Did some digging recently and found out I had a great-great-great-great-great grandfather who fought for the confederacy and I’m very proud of that. He was from North Carolina and was part of a company in the 28th North Carolina infantry regiment called the "South Fork Farmers", consisting of men largely from Catawba NC, and he fought for several years in the war and died without ever taking the loyalty oath to the US.
