Character Description
Apprentice to Recorder Jenskette Barbrush of Redwall Abbey. Timeous Frent was Jenskette's right-hand mouse, her war correspondent, her investigative journalist. When the Long Patrol returned from their first battle with the Siberians, defeated, it was Timeous who went out to witness and document the mass burial. 216 bodies of warriors who'd been dead for weeks at this point were laid to rest in the countryside south of Redwall Abbey. The sight and stench of death was horrifying, but 13 year old Timeous went out anyway. Part of it was curiosity, but it was mostly desire to tell the story. This was true history, the aftermath of a real battle. It was frightening, but he didn't lose his cool or get sick. And as he was writing what he saw, various young Long Patrol hares started approaching him. They all wanted to tell their accounts of the battle. And over subsequent days, Mossflower woodlanders started showing up asking "But, how did the Long Patrol lose?? They can't lose! Who are the Siberians? What are they gonna do to us if the Long Patrol can't beat them??" Timeous and Jenskette spent several sleepless nights compiling battlefield accounts from survivors and officers so they could be entered into Redwall Abbey's official logbook. Jenskette wrote a second 'press release' of the events for Timeous to share with the woodlanders. Abbot Serney stopped them, this was panic material. General Thunderfoot agreed, even though he commended the youngsters for writing such an accurate account of the battle he'd lost. The details of the battle were to remain hush hush. Jenskette stomped around angrily and started to wet herself in frustration. Timeous stepped up to do what she couldn't, be confrontational.

"Father Abbot, General, everybeast in Mossflower was out there watching the burial! General, you can't even walk!"

"Stay your tongue, young Timeous!" barked Thunderfoot.

"I will not! You marched right through Brockhall with 216 bodies in wagons! You know how it is, everyone is gonna talk! And before we know it, they'll think the Siberians are riding in on three-headed basilisks to resurrect Cluny the Scourge and eat all the dibbuns. You always said honesty is best, Father Abbot." Timeous said, not budging from his position. Serney and Thunderfoot admired him greatly for his conviction and reasoning. They relented, but with a compromise. "You must include a call to arms, young Timeous! Appeal to bravery and commitment." Thunderfoot requested. And Timeous did just that. In fact, the patriotic addendum he included brought a tear to the old hare general's eye.

A few weeks later, Queen Guivderin was chosen as the new hero of Redwall Abbey. A quest for unification would soon follow, with 13-year-old Timeous along to document it. He requested 17 copies made of his battle account and call to arms, Abbot Serney added an appeal for help. On October 1, 5644, Timeous joined Colonel Cornelius Longstride, Queen Guivderin Rijeka, and her two bodyguards on a six month quest for Mossflorian unity. Timeous would recall it as the most important deed of his life. He chronicaled the journey in his book, Guivderin's Quest For Unity as an adult.

Timeous approached recording more like a journalist than a scribe. At age 29, he succeeded Jenskette as recorder when she passed away. He authored many books throughout his life. He kept things neutral in the Abbey Log, but got very political in his own works. Badgerlord Paulvo the Savvy was only too happy to publish Timeous's journals. His writings frequently criticized traditionalists and royalty. He would occasionally drop names and managed to get Lord Brentwood of Coltswart overthrown by his own people.

Mossflorians loved and hated his writings. As an adult, Timeous traveled with body guards, all former pirates. There were 4 known attempts on his life, two of which by former Long Patrol Hares. Timeous Frent remains a historical figure to modern day.

Personality
Humorous, obnoxious, fearless, friendly. Timeous wants to know about you, your story, and the world. He's usually pretty good about talking to folks, but it can come off as intrusive. He's gotten better over time, more diplomatic. He has an excellent memory for what he reads, writes, and hears. If you contradict something you said in a previous meeting, he'll call you on it. This has gotten him into trouble and made him a few enemies. More mature creatures are fine with it because they want to maintain their truthful integrity.

Timeous is emotional and compassionate. He cares deeply for his friends. His desire for truth is greater than fear, allowing him to do things others wouldn't. In fact, the more something frightens him, the more he'll want to investigate.
Likes/Dislikes
Timeous loves Redwall Abbey and all its history and lore. This extended to Mossflower and beyond as he got older. He likes truth, he finds embellishments and boasting offensive unless it's part of a fun tall tale. He loves all his friends at the abbey and those he's made from elsewhere. He enjoys entertaining, light teasing, and making creatures laugh at inappropriate times. Loves seeing history unfold in front of him and making sure the truth is documented.

Timeous does not like the traditional Mossflorian system of 'goodbeast' and 'vermin'. He was always on the side of Abbot Serney in opposing it and accepting all creatures as equals. He was very disillusioned by the behavior of the Long Patrol and several fellow abbey creatures toward Queen Guivderin. This haunted him for the rest of his life and encouraged him to speak out against it in his writings.
Background/History
Timeous Ardimouse Frent was found at the south gate of Redwall Abbey in the wee hours on the morning of July 18, 5631. The mousebabe started to cry, alerting an otterguard on the ramparts. Whoever had left him did it unnoticed. "Please take care of Timeous Ardimouse Frent." a note said. He was wrapped in a blanket, wearing a soiled cloth diaper, clutching a nearly empty squeeze-bladder of mouse breast-milk. Sister Jallop and Badgermum Liza determined little Timeous wasn't more than a few weeks old. So they gave him a birthday of July 1, 5631.

Attempts to locate his parents failed. No one in Mossflower Wood knew the name 'Frent'. Nor did anyone know of a mouse couple with a recent newborn. And so it was, Timeous joined the ranks of the abbey 'dibbuns'. He was a happy dibbun. Always having fun and causing light mischief befitting of a lovable mouse cub. He took an extra interest in learning. He especially liked storytime, but always asked too many questions at the end. His excelled at reading, writing, and grammar. Books were a wonderful thing, so much better than storytime, the books never forgot how the story went.

One cold winter night, when he was five, Liza sat all the dibbuns down for storytime. She was supposed to tell the time-honored Redwall Winter's Tale, but when she started getting parts of it wrong, Timeous got upset and scolded her. "You need to tell it from the book!" he said standing with his arms crossed. Liza was taken aback, and Timeous got a little talking to from Abbot Josiah. The badgermum felt bad, but so did Timeous. He apologized and storytime went on. But Timeous had a plan.

The industrious dibbun started bringing quill and paper to storytime. Badgermum Liza let it go at first, but then stopped on the fifth night. "Timeous Frent, are you drawing during storytime??" she asked, offended.

"I'm writing your stories for you. Here." he said. He ran to the chest by his bed and pulled out 10 sheets of paper. Liza stared in disbelief. Timeous had written outlines of her stories from the last 5 nights. "Now they'll always be right." he said. After all the dibbuns had gone to bed, Liza presented Timeous's gift to the abbey staff. The young mouse clearly had a reading and writing ability beyond his age, an ability that mustn't be wasted.

Timeous's reading needs were fulfilled by unleashing him on the abbey archives and history. The abbey's new recorder, Jenskette Barbrush, had organized the archives over the last few years into a logical library. Over the next several years, Timeous devoured Redwall Abbey's history. This coincided with the Long Patrol relocating in and around Mossflower Wood. The hare warriors were such an integral part of Redwall's history, Timeous couldn't resist bugging them for stories. Most were happy to oblige, with much embellishment. Timeous caught the embellishments, but kept his mouth shut. He didn't want to upset the warriors. The now 10-year-old mouse cub expressed his frustrations to the newly nominated Father Abbot Serney Blanders, "Why is everyone full of beets and stale cabbage, Father Abbot??" Serney sprayed October Ale from his nose as he bellowed laughter. Timeous had a way of making folks laugh at inopportune times. But the conversation turned deep as Serney discussed constructed truth versus actual truth with the young mouse. This didn't sit well with Timeous. "I think Jenskette is the only one who's true around here." he said. Abbot Serney started guiding Timeous toward being a member of the abbey.

On July 1, 5643 Brother Timeous Frent joined Redwall Abbey. The 12-year-old mouse focused on being abbey historian. But the world outside the abbey got way too interesting when Queen Guivderin showed up the following April. A fallen kingdom, an invading horde, a queen's narrow escape, the Long Patrol going off to battle and unexpectedly defeated.  This was the stuff of legend. He became Recorder's Apprentice on August 1, 5644 by Jenskette's request.

Relatives/Family
Although he would marry and raise three children, Timeous has no known family. During The Rendezvous of the Six Armies, Captain Brog Seabeard, a pirate from Blaggot, confided to Abbot Serney, "Oy believe I met the lad's 'rents. They were not of ill stock, but not of sound choice. The resemblance is...uncanny." The abbot felt it best to keep this quiet, unless Timeous should ask. Brog took a liking to the young mouse because, like many beasts in his crew, Timeous was an abandoned youth who stood tall and became something.

Later in life, when Timeous made a name for himself, no one ever came out of the woodwork to claim kinship. He concluded that 'Frent' was likely not his real last name.
World/Setting
Set on planet Earth approximately 50,000 years in the future. All of my Redwall OCs are depicted as they were in the year 5645(Year Zero was when time measurements switched from seasons to years.), the year of the Rendezvous of the Six Armies. Most of the anthro world is stone aged to medieval at this time, with some increasing industrialization. The most modern cities have technology equivalent to that of Ancient Rome. Worldwide ocean travel exists with celestial navigation as a risky undertaking.

Timeous Frent's  actual birthplace is unknown. He is from somewhere in Mossflower Wood, probably near Redwall Abbey. He was found as a few-week-old infant at the abbey's south gate, so it is unlikely his parents traveled far to leave him there. He was raised as an abbey dibbun by the abbey staff.

Timeous was only 5 when the assumed extinct Mt. Salamandastron erupted, destroying the millennia-old home of the Long Patrol. The city of Salamandastron remained intact and continues to flourish under Badgerlord Paulvo the Savvy. Most badgers and the Long Patrol relocated to the forest surrounding Redwall Abbey. This was the start of what would become Mossflower City. Most Redwall stories take place in Mossflower Country. For the purpose of crossover with Chucky's world, Mossflower is what most of Western Europe is known as. Mossflower Proper covers the Iberian Peninsula. Redwall Abbey sits near what we know as Valladolid, Spain.(yes, I know there are some holes in my geography, but just go with it.) Although this area experiences a semiarid Mediterranean Climate in our time, in Timeous's time, the earth has cooled and Mossflower experiences a climate more like that of Western Europe.

Mossflower Country has no centralized government, just a common language of Mossflorian. It is a collection of kingdoms, species-based tribal communities, communal settlements like Redwall Abbey and Mt. Salamandastron, and a few true cities like Southsward and Marl. Its history is that of survival and tribal warfare. Small kingdoms under a feudal system run by a lord or chieftain trade or fight with each other for better land and resources. Larger communities grew in places where farming was done on a large scale. Redwall Abbey was built between early 4109 and 4129. It became known throughout the regions as a place of sanctuary, and a place of riches. The Redwall book series does a good job of explaining life in Mossflower over the next thousand years or so.

Mossflower began seeing changes in past centuries. Free markets began forming allowing creatures to make a living with their own skills. The quickest change was the sudden lack of 'vermin hordes'. Rats, weasels, stoats, foxes, and other 'vermin' no longer needed to join hordes for survival. The rat city of Blaggot, fox city of Marl, and northern coast trade port of Coltswart were such places. Relations between creatures and kingdoms softened. Internal trade and travel grew, Mossflower felt smaller.

Most historians agree that the May 5637 eruption of Mt. Salamandastron ended the era of 'Old Mossflower' for good. The displaced Long Patrol became the new horde for a short time. Then a new enemy approached from the east, not set on riches, but on empire building. 'Goodbeast' and 'vermin' alike cowered as the Long Patrol's first attack was efficiently cut down. Was this new invader unstoppable? Can Mossflower put its past permanently behind and become a nation that stands together? Recorder's Apprentice Timeous Frent intends to be there, to watch history take place and record the truth as it happens.

Recorder Jenskette
Argyll Yeobrach
This cute, young, slightly obnoxious mouseboy is apprentice to recorder Jenskette of Redwall Abbey. He does all the things that she can't, or is afraid to. He leaves the abbey to get the facts and experiences of the outside world. He sealed his prominence in Mossflower history by traveling with Queen Guivderin and Colonel Cornelius Longstride on their six-month quest to unify its kingdoms. He meticulously documented every day of the quest, including the conversations, arguments, and gradual friendship that developed between the rat queen and Long Patrol hare. He also documented the negotiations they made with the various leaders throughout Mossflower, and how they were convinced to unite as one fighting force.

Later in life, Timeous compiled this experience into his most famous book, Guivderin's Quest For Unity. It remains in print to the anthro world's modern day, translated into most languages. The book is famous among historians and politicians for being a guide to political negotiations.

Timeous Frent became Redwall Abbey's recorder on November 25, 5660 following the tragic death of Jenskette Barbrush.

I knew I would like Timeous for sure. he's really cute too, but beyond that I'm glad he eventually succeeded Jenskette as recorder. I would for sure call him an early investigative journalist as well one with great ideals for sense for truth over fiction. I'm glad he was able to survive those assassinations later on in his life. he may not have known who his birth family was, but it's obvious his family at the Abby were a great influence on him^^

Redwall Abbey was probably the best thing that could have happened to him, especially in the day and age he lived. Their accepting nature allowed him his full potential instead of squashing his spirit.
