To those who don't know anything about this character, Ben Muttski was original a character from the SatAM and Archie Comics. But he wasn't a Mobian. Nope, he was an actual dog who Sonic and his family owned as a pet. It wasn't until the Archie Comics reboot that Ben Muttski got his Mobian form. Hence, the current character design you see here. It's also said that Ben Muttski was named after the late Ben Hirsch, one of the writers of the SatAM cartoon.
