Sonic had been sick for a few months. It wasn't that bad at the start, but lately, Sonic couldn't hold on to anything for long. It had been days, maybe even a week, since he'd last eaten. Peaches, Sonic's girlfriend, was more than a little worried.
Peaches worked in the kitchen, trying to make something that wouldn't cause Sonic to vomit again. She had no idea what could help, saltine crackers weren't even safe anymore. She finished what she was cooking and headed to Sonic's room. He was laying belly up, his breaths short and shallow, almost like he was panting.
"Sonic," Peaches softly called to him. Sonic opened his eyes and gazed to her and rolled onto his side.
"Hey Babe," he weakly replied. She smiled and gently rubbed his ears.
"How do you feel?"
"Not much better." Sonic's voice was filled with rasp from his dry, burned throat. "What'cha got there?" Peaches looked at the bowl in her hands.
"It's just some soup I made. I was hoping that maybe it could help." Sonic nodded. He groaned as he sat up against the pillows. He reached out to receive the bowl, but Peaches wouldn't give it to him. "What gives?"
"You're sick, let me feed you."
Sonic deeply blushed. There were a few perks to being sick and this was one of them. Peaches carefully spoon-fed him the soup, making sure that it wasn't too hot for him. Sonic sighed after, lying down again.
Peaches took the dishes downstairs and put them in the dishwasher. It was only a few minutes later when she heard Sonic throwing up. She sighed and made her way back to his room to comfort him.

"I'm so sorry, Babe," Sonic whispered to Peaches, "but, I just can't."
"I understand."
Peaches rubbed his ears, lulling him to sleep. As soon as Sonic had gone to sleep, Peaches pulled out her phone and checked her texts. Sonic's sister Sonia had left her a message.
Hey. How's Sonic?
Not much better, Peaches texted back. He threw up the soup you recommended.
Darn it. I hope he feels better soon, we've got a concert to do.
Peaches looked up at the calendar. She had been so focused on taking care of Sonic, she had forgotten all about it! She checked the date. The concert was only three weeks away.

Peaches was more concerned than ever. The concert was only a week away and Sonic's condition wasn't improving. She had thought about calling Sonia and telling her to cancel the concert, but Sonic forbade her to do so.
"Don't worry. I'll be fine by then."
Peaches watched as Sonic looked over the concert programs and various pages of music and lyrics.
"Sonic," Peaches spoke, "You shouldn't be working so hard. You're still sick." Sonic gave a sigh of annoyance and looked at her with a hard glare.
"I told you. Don't worry, I'll be fine."
Peaches knew that Sonic was far from fine. He still had random bouts of vomiting, and he still couldn't hold on to anything he ate. She concluded that her magic was the only way to make sure that Sonic was well enough to attend the concert.

That night, as Sonic slept beside her, she weaved her hands over his body, snowflakes of magic falling onto his skin and sinking into his flesh. She smiled as she watched some of the color return to his pale face and as his breathing evened out. Peaches caressed his face and kissed his cheek.
