This is Ciara's horse, Embarr. He is, in many respects, an ordinary horse, if much larger and more powerful than most of the horses found on his home island. He is a large, black stallion who was meant to be trained as a warhorse, except that he showed a distressing tendency to trample anyone who tried to put a saddle on him. Ciara is one of the few people who are able to ride him, because she was the first one to realize the secret to taming him. He is far more intelligent than most horses, and while he can't speak, she has long suspected that he's at least as bright as she is.
