ok, so i just got a manikin, and thought id try my hand at something. it ddnt come out to badly actually... the head seams a bit small and the hair is horrible, but thats cuz i cant draw hair to save my life XDD

About drawing hair, you should try copy hairstyles from fashion or teen magazines. They oftenly has things how to do certain hairstyles step-by-step so you could understand their mechanics quite easy (the only problem I know that it's usually just for female styles).
And most of the toons has a bit large head, so the one here is almost ok.

i might be a bit les manly then i am, but i stay well away from teen magazines XD

and the head just seams small compared to the body :0

Back in my high school days I liked to surprise my classmates that I know something about teen idols and trendy sh*t (and I almost forgot all those things on the next day). They were like: "No way, you too!" and "Are you readind Harry Potter too?". I was look like as my avatar back than too, so it was something like that when you found out the local mob boss is an expert in knitting.
I'm still on it that visual arts must follow up on current fashion, only if a bit (one I get a trojan surfing on these kind of web pages so I won't do it recently). You could get hair styles from movies also or just going into the mall on a Saturday afternoon.
