A little while back, I had the random idea of Eggman creating a 'project' in a similar way that his grandfather did, as part of a genetics experiment.

The plan was to create a being who possessed both Sonic and Shadow's Chaos Energy/DNA, as well as the addition of the Chaos Emeralds, so that Eggman can have the creature be just as powerful as Sonic and Shadow, and would increase his odds of finally defeating Sonic.

Eggman left the little creature near his lair and kept a close eye on the area, knowing that it's cries would soon gain the attention of Sonic.

Both Sonic and Shadow arrive at the scene and take in the baby, feeling confused on why it looks like them both.

Over time, Sonic bonds with Sokudo and becomes somewhat of a 'motherly' figure for him, hence this picture ^^

Sokudo is the Japanese word for 'speed', by the way, in case you were wondering~

They both wanted a child (Sonic more that Shadow), but being both male it wasn’t possible. That left Sonic a little heartbroken. Then one day, exploring near an old Eggman base due some unusual chaos activity, they found him.

Using the miles electric made the search for chaos signals easy, they followed the device until a small clearing. The device pointed to a small lump of cloths. “What is that?” Sonic asked. Shadow only answer was he squinting his eyes and getting his guard up. They both pondered in silence on what do to. Then lump of clothes started to cry. Sonic covered his mouth and his eys widen, Shadow mouthed a dry what and squared up.

Sonic didn't thought twice. He dropped the tablet and ran to the crying baby. “Sonic, Wait! It could be a trap!” Shadow tried to grab Sonic by the arm but he couldn’t so he chased after him. Sonic stopped and kneeled. Shadow stayed a few meters behind him. Slowly, Sonic uncovered the infant to reveal a baby hedgehog. Sonic eyes widen. Dark blue fur and familiar red markings. Peach arms lifted the infant, he intermediately felt the chaos energy of him and it felt… familiar?

“Shss… Shss… It’s ok liltle one” Sonic tried to calm the infant bouncing him a bit and it worked (and it felt so natural for him to do so). The now quite baby, opened his eyes to reveal green emeralds, A bit lighter shade than Sonic’s. “Hello there, buddy” Sonic said with a small smile and used his clean gloves to wipe some of the tears away. “don’t need to cry no more, We’ll take care of you! Right, Shadow?” Sonic turned to a hesitant dark hedgehog. “Sonic... This is obviously a trap!” “So? He can’t stay here all by himself! He is just a baby!” Shadow didn’t have a thing to say to that. Yes he was a baby and it didn’t look like a robot or android and he could feel the natural chaos that emanated from him.

Shadow sighed “… Lets just be careful, okay?” Sonic smile grew larger “I think you have a new home… What’s your name..” Sonic wondered while walking home.

Days passed. Shadow wasn’t completely sure at first about the whole situation. but the big smile and happy attitude that Sonic carried, since they found the baby, make him forget about his worries. It’s being a while since he saw Sonic like this.

The sun was setting, making everything a cozy orange color. Shadow was reading a book and Sonic was feeding the baby. Everything was calm. “Sokudo” Sonic muttered. Shadow attention to his current novel stopped. “...What?” Shadow responded and looked at Sonic. Sonic adjusted himself a bit to sit more upright, without disturbing the baby of course. “I want to name him Sokudo” It was a name but it meant many things to name a child. Sonic diverted his sight, his hearth beat raised up a little. “…Shadow...” Sonic started, a bit of a shake in his voice. “...would you… like to… raise this child with me?” Sonic didn’t heard an immediate answer and it started to hurt his hearth. A million things were racing in his mind until he felt the cushion of the sofa move and an arm wrap around him. “I’ll be honored to do so, Sonic.” Shadow pecked Sonic’s cheek. Sonic teary eyes looked at Shadow’s and smiled.
