Happy Halloween! It's about time I did something on theme for my favorite holiday.
I figure I always draw characters being happy or horny and not often distraught. I wanted to do something a little different, express a side of myself not often present in my art. It's been a hard time for me the last few months as I'm sure it has for many others, and I haven't felt myself. It was somewhat cathartic to make this, actually. Ironic that I'd finally make a full background on a piece that I know won't matter for visibility. It took a long time to make each one of those bricks to the point where I got lazier and lazier as I got further into it. I like the end result, though.
Demons have always been really cool to me, and it's fascinating how they exist in some form across all cultures. I've always been really interested in mythology, enough to study religion in college despite being a long time atheist myself. And of course in works of fantasy, they have the potential to be scheming monsters that have no motivation aside from causing chaos and suffering. A terrifying notion, indeen! They can often be a metaphor for mental illness or the evil that exists in the human psyche as well.
