i'll frankly say that my technique is quite improvised, so i'll try to explain what i did.
Firstly i set/imagined a source of light. In this case it comes above her left side. In other words, light on her left, shadows on her right, mostly.
Secondly, to set shadows i imagined how her body parts would influence on her shading. For example, her raised right leg. Notice that there's this thick shadow on her thigh, following the curvature of her butt. That shadow is stronger because the calf above casts an shadow onto the thigh below.
If you want to be practical, take the hand for example. With a layer mode set in Multiply, i painted her gloves a light grey using the bucket tool. Then, i simply erased the parts where the lights were comming from. To smooth the transition between light/shadow i used the blur tool.
