Background: Carter was born a male Coyote in sunny Salt Lake City. He has light-gray fur and dark-gray eyes. Both his parents were coyotes. His mother was named Sarah Jennings and his father was Tommy Marks.

Sarah was young when she had Carter. At the time she was dating Tommy and she had just graduated college. Sarah and Tommy liked each-other and had been dating since sophomore year of college. When Sarah found out she was pregnant, she told Tommy. Sarah was very happy, but Tommy walked out on her one morning. Sarah was heartbroken, for Tommy wanted nothing more to do with her or the baby.

Sarah was sad for weeks, until she ran into her longtime friend, Ethan Hendrix. Ethan was a jaguar and he and Sarah had known each other since pre-school. After Sarah explained what happened between her and Tommy, Ethan showed her comfort. Ethan supported Sarah during her pregnancy. Sarah worked from home as an Astronomer and Ethan worked as a Scientist. After a few weeks, they began dating and when she was seven months along, Ethan asked Sarah to marry him and she said yes.

Ethan and Sarah both agreed to get married just after the baby was born. In late October of 1995, Sarah gave birth to Carter then she and Ethan got married just after Thanksgiving. Ethan adopted Carter and Sarah took Ethan's last name. And in September of 1996, Sarah and Ethan had a son of their own, a jaguar named Elliot. Sarah continued to work from home to raise Carter, but Ethan took care of him on his days off when Sarah was called in.

Carter loved Ethan like his actual father, but even though Ethan was his stepfather, Carter still called him Dad. Growing up, Carter was a kind and caring boy and always looked out for his little brother.

Carter and Elliot did almost everything together such as hiking, snowboarding and even going to the movies, but the one thing they enjoyed doing was tickling each other. There were things that made Carter different from Elliot. Carter mainly enjoyed reading, organizing and looking sharp.

When Carter started high school, he took a part-time job at Men's Wearhouse, where he had to wear a suit. Carter liked wearing a Three-piece suit with a single-breasted jacket. Carter kept his job even after graduating high school and community college. Since he began working at Men's Wearhouse, Carter kept trying to get Elliot dressed in a suit and tie, but his brother has his own way of dressing up.

Carter liked wearing a suit, but hated having to act all fancy during formal events that had to do with his parents jobs. Other things he hated were having to clean the gutters and what both he and Elliot hated, cleaning the attic, because they were both messy jobs. Carter also didn't like the fact that whenever he and his family went on and came back from a vacation, he always had to carry the suitcases. Some were heavier than others. During his free time, Carter liked drawing. He would draw different style designs for suits and ties and present them to his manger, who took an interest in his ideas.

Carter continued to look out for Elliot and cared for him more than anything, being a good brother and a son to his family.
