Character Sheet for Pepper
Character Description
Pepper is a Chikorita distinguishable by the gnawed and frayed leaf on her head, and the surgical scar running the length of her back. She is rather stout, and - were she not evolution-locked - may have grown into a shorter, stockier example of your typically Bayleef. She wears an Everstone with a symbol of protection carved into it; a gift courtesy of Hastur the Mimikyu.
Personality
Pepper is a stubborn, driven individual with more moxie than sense. Her greatest joy in life is battling, and her greatest ambition is to get better at battling. If not battling, then physical exercise and self improvement in general become her focus. For her, there is always progress to be made, and something to improve. She is very intelligent, and a quick thinker, but also very emotional, and in some ways quite vulnerable.
Likes/Dislikes
Fighting. Fighting, Fighting, Fighting. She loooves to fight.
If there is one thing she absolutely cannot stand, its people trying to belittle her. More specifically, people pitying her, or otherwise denying her her right to fight alongside - or more accurately, with - every other Pokémon. She fought to get where she is; to become who she is, and she'll be damned if anyone tries to take it away from her.
That said, she cares deeply for her fellows and is quite protective of them. They were the first to believe in her, and support her in her drive to fight once more in tournaments.
Background/History
Pepper was born and raised at a Breeders with the explicit intent of being given to a trainer; a so-called "Starter Pokémon". The only girl in a clutch of three, she was learning to fight from the day of her hatching. She took to it quickly; she took no other mon's shit and took no prisoners in a scrap. When her trainer came for her, she made her debut by sweeping every other trainer one after the other. She showed promise, and it was all taken away from her when a Steelix slammed her into the bleachers.
She survived, but lost all use of her legs, and the nurses agreed that she could never fight again. Worse, Pepper's trainer couldn't - or wouldn't - spare the room on his team to accommodate a crippled Pokémon on his journey, so he dumped her at his sponsor's ranch, and more or less left her to rot. It broke her heart.
But not her spirit.
Every day since, she has worked to master what limbs - and vines - she had left. She studied battle tactics, she exercised, she grew stronger. She left the ranch, leaving her old life behind, and found Mary, who took her in as she had so many others. She worked and trained and worked until the day she could once again face other Pokémon in battle.
The day she battled her old trainer and won was the greatest day of her life.
