A sunny day on the island of Berk, Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, or just Hiccup as everyone was calling him, was wandering on the port, going about and helping people when he could. He was a little worried though. It's been several hours since Toothless has left on his own. The young man could fully understand how eager the nightfury would be to try out this new automatic tailfin he has built for him, yet he didn't like being away from his friend for too long. He'll be back this evening, Hiccup told himself, as always. He couldn't make his concerns totally vanish, but he had to trust his dragon for being free and independent. Thus he waited, happy when thinking about the cheerful face the black flying lizard made when he helped him put on his new tailfin.
He'll be back this evening, there's no use in worries.
Toothless has been flying over the seas for the whole morning. This feeling, it was so liberating, it made the young male lose track of time. However, soreness in his shoulders and wings brought him back to reality. He really needed to land somewhere and rest for a while, else he'll just faint and fall into the ocean. Fortunately there was a small islet just there, with a few trees to lay under. And that's what he did, as soon as his paws touched the ground, he trotted to the grove and curled under an oak. Soon enough the black dragon was falling asleep.

When you live your whole life in the northen archipelagos, where your life is driven by fighting rival clans and surviving winter, it is easy to forget that there is a whole world farther than your big rock of an island. Far from the nordic seas, lie kingdoms, duchies, empires and sultanates of all kind.
In one of those countries, the king is in dispair. His son and only heir, entering adulthood, still hasn't found someone to marry and provide succession to his bloodline. All the girls he introduced to him, he rejected them, and the few times he tried to force an union upon him the demanding prince has managed to cancel it and make the family's relations with other houses worsen dramatically.
The prince says he wants someone very special to be his wife. Someone extraordinary, no mere girl as pretty, kind and smart may they be. His father is up to do everything in order to get his troublesome son a princess to marry, every week passing by, the fear of his lineage ending with his son is growing bigger in his heart. But he's been running short on ideas.
One day, explorers that the king has sent came back to do their report to their lord.
For months they have been navigating through the cold seas of the great north. They drew maps of the landmasses, named uncharted archipelagos, met with a few locals. And on top of that, they came back with a present :
In the throne hall, a cage was being brought, from which roars and rumblings were coming from. They captured it while it was sleeping in the middle of nowhere. In front of the king, baring its teeth and making the cage shake with its struggles against the chains, was an actual and living dragon. A nightfury, as the royal family's doctor would precise upon seeing the creature. It was incredible, dragons were supposed to have gone extinct eons ago ! Yet here it was, and much more lively than in the old parchments. The present was amazing enough by itself, but after a first reaction of surprise and awe, it got the king thinking.
He remembered a discussion he had with the queen.
Since his youngest years, the prince, their son, has always been fascinated with myths and tales of brave knights rescuing fair maidens by slaying dragons of all sorts. He always thought that it was the courage of the heroes and beauty of the damsels that were filling the kid's dreams. But what if it was... dragons ? A crazy, quite unholy idea came to his mind. He had the dragon be taken to a secret place under the keep, and summoned the doctor for a private interview.
He was barely believing that he was about to ask the scholar such a bizarre thing. And the doctor's face was indeed that of a shocked man. However, when the king wasn't expecting for his question to make any sense to the science man, he instead got a positive answer. His royal hands shaking, a drop of sweat on his forehead, he nodded and gave the order to perform the operation.
Toothless had been brought to a dark and cold room under the castle. His nightvision was good enough to see decently through the darkness, allowing him to see the bars of his cell. He wasn't sure how much time passed, but suddenly he heard steps coming down towards him. A growl building inside his throat, he walked in circles like a lion in his cage, hitting the metal bars in vain attemps to break free.
Torches were being lighted, and the doctor arrived in the basement, accompanied by a few guards. Standing in front of the dragon, he unsheated a medical tool and pointed it at the nightfury. The thing shot a dart into his neck, Toothless let out a whimper, and already his eyelids were feeling heavy, his head spinning. When he fell unconscious on the floor, the guards followed the doctor's orders, opened the cell and brought the dragon on the operating table, strapping his limbs and body to it. The doctor put on a surgical mask, takes a scalpel in his gloved hand, a syringe filled with a mysterious serum in the other, and approached the last of the nightfury.
The transformation took the whole night to be finished, and the doctor was proud of the result. Changing the dragon's body into an anthropomorphic one was already a challenge, and on top of that, since it turned out the nightfury was actually a male, he also had to perform a comlete sexchange. But everything went well, and he managed to give him, now her, the curviest, most alluring look possible. When Toothless woke up several days later in the bedroom she's been transferred to, she of course panicked. She couldn't believe what she was seeing in the mirror, what she was seeing when looking at herself... But she was far from able to resist and struggle like she would have in her original shape. And to her own surprise, she could somewhat understand what the doctor was saying to her.
She's been chosen to be the prince's bride. As soon as the king's son saw her, his dream, a dragon woman, he asked for her to marry him, granting great relief and joy to his father and mother. The wedding was planned to take place in a few weeks, and the prince was very eager to meet and get to know his future wife. As much as Toothless painfully worded her refusal, tried to oppose him and all the other humans around her, it was no use. Before she knew it, the fateful day came, she was being dolled up and prepared by the female servants of the castle for her big day. And, a veil covering her face, she walked down the hall of the curch to the shrine, where the prince was waiting for her.

A full year has passed since Toothless became the prince's wife, and the princess of this kingdom far from Berk. The first few months, she was obsessed with two things : changing back, escaping this place and going back to Berk. But no matter how hard she tried to find a way to be turned back, it was pointless. It seemed such an operation just couldn't be reversed, not by any known means at least. As to run away... what could she do, in this body, so frail, unable to fly more than a few minutes before being exhausted, unable to breath more than fire sparks ? The guards would find her in no time. And that was, if nothing worse happened. Her body was made to be harmless, defenceless, as fragile as she was beautiful, to remove all independance from her life. And the prince, her husband, was more than happy to provide her with everything she needed, including protection.
Thus Toothless, renamed Princess Thalassa, had no choice but to accept and get used to this new lifestyle. As the year went by, she learnt how to be a proper lady, a lovely princess and a good wife. She was loved by the people for her good heart, by many men (and women) for her striking grace and beauty, and by the royal family for being the future mother of the prince's children. Truth be said, she grew to kind of like the prince. He really cared about her wellbeing, he really wanted to make her happy living with him. He was reminding her in many ways of a certain awkward and loveable young man she left in Berk.
Yet often at night, when her husband was asleep, she would get up from the large bed she was sharing with him, and lean onto the edge of the tower's window, gazing at the nightsky in direction of the great north. And, just like in the old tales, would dream of the brave viking that would come from the icy seas to rescue her.
But it was nothing but dreams. This was her life now. She wasn't Toothless the nightfury anymore. She was Princess Thalassa, the night beauty. And, in her belly that she was caressing softly, was growing the fruit of her husband's love. She already asked him, and he agreed. His name will be Hiccup.
And the thought made her smile melancholically.
