Next of Shomari's girls are up tonight!
Now, what can I say about this girl without spoiling too much...
In a way Anaïs, pronounced Ah-nay-z, is the glue that holds the harem together.
Anaïs tribe calls themselves "Sons of the Sands", however the outside world has many, many other words for them: barbarians, cannibals, heathens, child murderers, blood-obsessed psychos, etc etc. And for good reasons.
They are notorious and feared for their warring ways. They are hostile raiders who lives solely to fight. Their leaders, the khans, are elected by brutal combat to death, and only the strongest warriors are granted glory and mating rights.
Their young males have swords in their hands by the time they can walk, and the weakest are killed off early to keep "weak blood" out of the tribe. Sometimes even by their own peers.
Females however are forbidden to fight, or lead, or do anything really. Females are supposed to be mothers and homemakers, and any female caught as much as holding a weapon is executed.
Shomari knew the Sons of the Sands would be different, and definitely the hardest people to control. Therefore he needed a different approach...
By immediately going to the offensive, no chance for negotiation, he challenged their current leader directly. Knowing that if refusing, the khan would be branded a coward and quite literally torn apart by his own people.
By defeating the khan in a show whose brutality happily surprised even the most hardcore jackals, Shomari became the khan of Sons of the Sands. While this does leave him in a position where the jackals can challenge him for the leadership back, it seems like these bloodthirsty barbarians fit in perfectly with his crusade, and he has so far been uncontested.
And it is almost a little eerie how well he fit in with them as well. As customs require, after celebrating his victory with his new people, drinking from the skull of the slain khan and such, he laid claim to the chief's daughter Anaïs.
Unfortunately for Anaïs, she was born in the entirely wrong tribe.
Anaïs is a born leader. She is strong willed, intelligent, responsible, and decisive, as well as a skilled fighter. All in secret ofcourse, but she has always known she is superior to her brothers in every way.
She sees having been born a female as a curse, as she knows that despite her talents she will never be more than a babymaker.
Therefore, becoming a slave for Shomari never really deviated too far from her original visions of the future. With only one major change: that she would actually be able to utilize her leadership skills.
When she joined the harem there were only two other girls by the names Lumia and Selena, and both of them were wrecks. Not only was the life with Shomari a constant nightmare to the two, a prior event with a supposed third girl had Lumia in a mental break.
When seeing the disarray around her, something in Anaïs sprung to action. She asked Shomari for her to take responsibility of the girls when they're currently not serving him, and give them more purpose in their lives.
She took on a sort of leadership role in the harem and gave the girls structure by giving them tasks and roles that focused on their strengths. It helped them take their minds off the bad parts of their new lives, but Anaïs does lack a few key components:
Empathy, and patience. Despite her strengths she lacks the gentle touch and kindness that sometimes is needed with new, and especially fragile, girls. She is very cold, demanding and stern in her demeanors, and even if she do care she just doesn't show much in the way of compassion. But luckily, that's were Naunet comes in...
