I awoke dazed, my vision blurry, as I came too, trying to shake it off, I looked around as my vision cleared, I was in my home, I try to move but something was restricting my movements, I look down to see my wrists tied to a chair with rope.
I try to wiggle free, but to no avail I wasn't able to break loose. "What the hell?" I ask in a terrified tone shaking the ropes. I try and shake free, vigorously tugging at the ropes, but to no avail, it wouldn't budge.
"You can tug and pull all you want, you still won't get free." Came a female voice, in the shadows of my own living room, my head whisks in the direction of the voice.
"You? You did this to me?" I ask in a shocked manner, "You tied me to a chair in my own house?" "Just a necessary precaution." She replied.
"What a load of bullshit, you untie me right now or I'm calling the cops." She laughs, with a slight hiss to it.
"Show yourself. I've got money, there's a safe in my bedroom, you can take it and go." I stammer.
"You humans and your money, I don't need your money or any of it." I look around frantically as sweat began to bead on my forehead, "Then what do you need?" I ask. She slowly steps out of the shadows to reveal herself to me, I gaze at her in awe and shock, "I need you." She replies.
"Wha.... what? Why do you need me?" I ask nervously. She slowly strolls over to me, her shiny green to blue scales glimmer in the lights of the living room. My eyes follow her in shock, as this new creature never heard of to mankind seems to be getting a real kick out of this, having me held hostage.
She ignores my question, "Would you like a new life? Start over, have a fresh start?" she asks.
I thought about that, as she slowly circles around me, "I... I... I don't know, that's a big thing to ask of me, my wife only just died, I have a job, and I have a business to look after." I reply tugging at the ropes on my wrists.
"Hm, suit yourself." She casually says, as she strolls up to my liquor cabinet. She grabs a crystal short glass in her clawed hands; I had noticed she has three fingers and a thumb, each one ending with a sharp claw.
She throws in a few ice cubes into the glass, as she snatches the bottle of bourbon, pops the lid off, letting the amber liquid pour into the glass to the brim, as she does that, with the bright down lights of the dining room, I can get a clear view of what she looks like. From head to toe, she was covered in green scales, but shone blue to the contrast of the light, but she also had lighter green scales that ran from her back down to her tail.
That caught me off guard, shit, and her tail? Even though she was wearing human pants, she had hid her tail all this time, probably painfully having it tucked within her pants, to not reveal her identity to anyone or have anyone suspicious of her, I could see she had cut a hole at the back of her pants so her tail could easily and comfortably fit through. I also had noticed that the jeans had been adjusted and specially made to fit the contours of her body, as well as the jacket she was wearing. How did she manage to get that done?
As I overlook her with certain curiosity, I looked down to her feet; she wore runners so her feet were obscured from view, somehow finding it difficult to fathom how she managed to find a pair of human shoes that would fit her comfortably, like she would have different feet compared to us humans and she would also have sharp talons.
Her main figure was that of a cross between I'd say a lizard like an iguana or monitor and a dinosaur, her head looked more like the head of a monitor, but had the elegant streamlined look of a I'd say a raptor dinosaur. Her snout where her nose is, looked elegant and soft, it made her look smooth and friendly in way, at the moment friendly is a misconception, being held against my will.
She stood I'd say an inch taller than I am, she looked fit and very strong, I would not want to pick a fight with her, I'm pretty sure her mouth is lined with razor sharp teeth. My attention turned to her eyes, they were yellow and slitted like a snakes, I couldn't really get a full glimpse of her body as it was covered by human clothes, I guess she knows that being nude in public is an offence and humans do not take to it kindly.
I hear her sigh; as I watch her throw her head back with the glass of bourbon, downing it in one gulp. "Have you thought about what I said?" she asks still standing at the liquor cabinet, after a moment of silence.
"It will take me some time to think of a big commitment like that, not to mention you springing it on me in the last minute.... what are you if I may ask?" More nervous than curious as to how she might take it the wrong way.
"It's obvious that you're some sort of lizard creature, you resemble some of the species we have here on earth." I say calmly. Her reaction was of something I was not prepared for, I watch her squeeze her glass in anger, and it explodes in her hand as she crushes it, shattering to a million pieces.
"Do NOT call me that!" she says aloud, raising her voice in anger, she hisses at me as she rushes up to me angrily. I cringed, now I was terrified, I pissed her off in a way I didn't know how, she inched closer to me her face mere inches from mine, her yellow slitted eyes staring me down, her sharp razor teeth clearly showing, "I... I..." I stutter, now I was scared for my life, "... I'm sorry, I had no idea that 'word' offended you; I was just using human logic. Please don't kill me."
With her face close to mine, I got a good look at her features, she was... rather beautiful and attractive. She could see the fear, the emotion, and the depression in my eyes. She relaxes some, "I forgive you, just don't use that 'word' around us." She says stepping back. "Us? There's other's like you?" I ask. "Yes, Ryan, there are more of my species. I'm not the only one you know." She replies.
"You haven't answered MY question." I state. She sighs, she grabs a nearby dining chair and places it in front of me, and she sits down on it, letting her tail dangle through the opening in the chairs backrest.
She raises a hand, drawing out a sharp claw; I flinch as I cover my face with my hands, as I shiver in fright, I peak through an eyelid to watch her cut the ropes holding my wrists, like a hot knife through butter, she was releasing me.
I open my eyes and I look at her with an exasperated expression, I was speechless. "Why did you release me?" She adverts her eyes, "Because I shouldn't be treating you like this, you just lost your wife and you should be grieving. I lashed out at you, you didn't deserve it, and I tied you up because I didn't know how you would react seeing a new intelligent species for the first time, I thought you would be so scared that you would run and call the authorities letting the whole of Earth know my very existence."
Now I'm seeing a softer side to this female anthropomorphic lizard, that I haven't seen as of yet. "You know I wouldn't do that." I softly say, as I let the ropes drop to the floor rubbing my sore wrists. She looks at me, her yellow eyes studying me, "You're not afraid of me?" she asks in bewilderment.
I nod my head side to side, "Nope, I'm not scared of you. At first I was, you could kill me in a split second if you wanted to. But you have shown your softer side to me."
"Ryan you should be scared of me, I'm the first intelligent alien you have ever encountered in your life, and you're the only human who knows that I and my species exist."
"I'm just not scared of you; in fact I'm thrilled to be the first and only human to meet you." I reply.
For the first time, I see the edges of her mouth curl into what resembles a smile. "I don't know how you're not scared of me, I'm so confused."
"I take it from experience, I'm a mechanic, I work on cars on a daily basis, when there's a problem with a customer's car that I am not familiar with, yes I am sure as hell scared, scared in the fact that if I make the wrong decision, the wrong part, the wrong wire, the wrong diagnoses, that I will utterly destroy or wreck the customers car, which that comes back on me where I have to deal with an angry customer, who has to fork out more money to get their car fixed, yes I sure do get scared, but I'm used to it, because I have learned that if I want to fix the problem I have to take risks on fixing that problem, which makes me scared on what the outcome will be."
"What's a mechanic?" she asks as she tilts her head in confusion. "Oh. Umm. I thought you knew most human terms?" I ask. "Some I do, but I have spent limited time among you humans to know what terms you actually speak with in your language on a daily basis."
"Well..." I racked my mind, to come up with a term that would affiliate with her species, 'Alien, she's an alien basically, aliens have tech, tech equals to spaceships, I didn't know if that's what she had as in her species, spaceships and tech equals to engineers' I thought.
"Ah... do you know what an engineer is?" I ask. "Yes, yes I do." She replies quirkily. "Well that's what I am, in a sense, but I work on and fix cars."
"Interesting." She puzzles, "So from the experience you have as an 'engineer', who has made you less scared of things and overcome your fears. That's why you're not scared of me."
"Yes, to put it into context." I reply with a light smile. "What are all these?" she asks gesturing her hand at my tattoos on my arms.
"Oh that, yeah, just some artwork and bad decisions over the years." I say rubbing the back of my head.
"I like it." She states. "You humans are a... interesting lot, your species as a whole have many prospects and each of you have your own individual ideas and personalities."
"Don't try and idolise us too much, we have been known to blow each other up on occasion and start wars." I reply tersely.
"I know," she replies casually, "I've studied your history. World War I, World War II, the Vietnam War, I read all about those, Hiroshima, yeah I can see how you human's can utterly destroy yourselves and other peoples beliefs."
"Yeah, as I said, don't idolize us too much; we have done our fair share of doing bad things to other people." I say looking down at the floor, "Ryan, I don't idolize humanity, I idolize you."
I perk up stunned, "What?" I was speechless, not to mention also shocked.
"I idolize you Ryan, because you can be something more. You can have something more, you can have purpose, and you can start anew, a brand new life, a brand new future."
I study her yellow slitted eyes, "Are you talking about what you asked me earlier?" I ask.
"Yes, Ryan, I am, you have been avoiding my question." I love her accent, in the human sense; it would sum up to be a mix of Russian and British, as she spoke English.
I sigh, "I will have to think about it, can you tell me more about what you are? You still haven't explained much, and also as to how I got home after blackening out when you lunged at me in the alleyway."
She leans back in her chair, "I drove your car. That's how I got you home." I eyed her with an indifferent look. "You drove my car." I ask blandly.
"It that bad?" she asks as if she was a child getting scolded by their parent. "No, not at all, I'm just... surprised and impressed; I didn't know you knew how to drive." "Well, spending time around you humans and studying your behaviours, I learnt a few things."
"Well..." I say place a hand to my forehead, "That answers that question, but how did I black out and lose consciousness."
With that, she pulls up her sleeve of her jacket, revealing a very advanced technological device that I have never seen before. It looked like an iPad if it had shrunk to the size of her wrist and strapped to her arm, but when she tapped it, a 3D representation of something shone above it in a blue light. I knew my way around tech, you know with modern cars and how to fix them, but this... this was something out of Star Wars or Star Trek, this is advanced, way more than our own technology.
"What is that?" I ask, amazed. "It's a piece of our own technology, that we invented, much more advance that your tech, it's called a Quanttella, it's our own personalized user-face that we can access anything, anything at all, find out any information about someone, or something, this is how I made you go to sleep, it is also a weapon, can be used as a weapon in such, I sent out a high frequency noise, in audible to the human ear, that messed with your electro-signals that your brain uses, it basically tells your brain you have had no sleep for the past twenty-four hours."
I rub my temples, "Shit." I reply trying to grasp of wealth of information she has just told me and to justify it all, I didn't really know what she was talking about, this was all new to me.
She could read my expression, "Ryan, I know this is a lot to process in such a little time." She says calmly.
"I know, I know, I know, I'm trying to process it, in my little human mind." I say, trying to keep my composure, but the bottled up feelings, the bottled up emotions, they just want to give in. "What is that supposed to mean?" she asks, crossing her arms. "It means that..." I stand up in a frustrated manner, "Argh! It means I can't take any of this anymore, this, all this, this should not be happening! Meeting you! You of all people! You're an alien! How, I, this is impossible! I thought it was a HUMAN who was stalking me, not an alien being who looks like a lizard, there I said it!" I walk to the kitchen, banging my fists on the kitchen counter, as I try and take this all in.
'Do not let her see you cry, Ryan.' I thought. I couldn't resist, the tears started flowing, as I crouch my head in my hands as I lean on the kitchen bench.
I feel a cold hand, a hand with scales, touch my arm softly, rubbing it to calm me down, I felt that touch before. I look up with teary eyes, to look up at her, touching my arm softly. "It was you, you're the one who touched me to calm me down when I lost myself in my emotions about Alison, you helped me to my feet." She nodded slowly.
"But how, how could I not see you?" I ask sobbing, she replies by hitting a 3D button on her wrist computer thingy and she vanished.
I look around as I stood up, she is nowhere to be seen, where is she? But then she reappears to my right, which made me jump a bit. "You... can go invisible?" I ask, astounded.
"You would be amazed on what this tech can do." She replies smirking, "I'm sorry I lashed out at you like that, you didn't deserve it." I said as I wiped my face of my tears.
"Ryan you're going through pain and anguish at the moment, because of your loss, it's hard, and I've had loss too, many times... but we get through it in the end."
"Yeah, I'm a long way off from that kind of person." I reply dully. "I will never be the same, how am I supposed to focus on work and my business in this state, it will fall apart."
She gives me a determined look as her reptile eyes study me; she gives a sigh and starts walking towards my front door, her tail swishing behind her.
I perk up, "Where are you going?" I ask confused. "I'm leaving." She replies. "Leaving? To where?"
She stops mid walking to the front door, turns and gives her attention to me, "To my ship, I asked nicely for you to choose, to take my offer but you won't make your decision."
I just stare at her blankly, "Umm, what? You have a spaceship?"
"Well how do you think I got here in the first place?" I kept silent, I rolled my eyes, "Of course, you of all people would have a spaceship, way to advanced and ahead of our time."
"Ryan, you had your chance to find out more information about me, my race and what you can accomplish in a new start in your life, you can have an amazing future, but I guess you don't want to find out more information about me, who I am, what I am, where I come from, I know you humans can't resist going for something that is so new to you and so out of the ordinary."
"Good luck, Ryan, have a nice life. If I were you what is that term you human's say, oh yes 'get some professional help'."
I pondered over this, 'What will happen if I accept her offer? What will happen to me? I want more information, what has she have in store for me? What will she do? I want to know more about her and her species, what type of future is she talking about? How will this offer change my life?' I thought.
She walked to the door, donned on her hood, she was about to grab the door handle to the front door, "Wait." I called out.
She stopped, she turns around and gives me her attention, I sigh, "I will accept your offer, you're right." I say throwing my hands in the air, "My life is miserable, I would suffer into a long solitude of emotional turmoil, I know I would eventually break, the loss of Alison has deeply wounded me, I can't focus, I can't even be normal."
She gives a light hiss of approval, "Good. I'm glad you have come to terms with my offer by making your decision."
She grabs the door handle and opens it; she turns her head to me, her yellow slitted eyes staring into my own, "How will I see you again?" I ask.
She raises her wrist, with her advanced tech; she pushes a few buttons, with a smile, "Check your phone."
Before she pulls the door behind her, "Oh by the way Ryan, my name is Lizareth." And with that she turns in invisible and closes the door.
