Marigold always acts very stuck up, so high and mighty like she's herself Royalty. But when Duchess, the True royalty, comes around, Marigold becomes a nervous wreck. Having to hide the jeweled tiara she totes around and wears, as she doesn't want to upset the queen and make her think that she's trying to act above her station, even as guild master of the Forest kingdom's section of the Rescue team guild, she isn't any where close to royal status.
Though when the true queen isn't around, Marigold lords over her guild like she is the queen herself. Though her foppish and snooty attitude hides her less dignified traits. As she's often hoarding a stash of the cookies the guild hall serves as dessert. While most guild members only have one cookie per meal, she hoards as many as she can to snack on when no one is looking.
So I had this idea about the pokemon kingdoms, a topic that I haven't brought up in a very very long time. one of which is the forest kingdom, ruled by Duchess https://inkbunny.net/s/1372617.
So the idea is based on the mystery dungeon games, the organizations that run the rescue team services as well as the Explorer guilds have to answer to someone. it felt like they have authority to perform rescues, and even have some kind of rudimentary law enforcement practices that get sanctioned by someone. so why not have it be some kind of royal ruler who commissions them to perform their duties?
such organizations that just exist without the player ever seeing them is in the first mystery dungeon games, as well as the DX remake, and then in mystery dungeon Gates of Infinity.
Explorers of Darkness/Time and Super mystery dungeon were the only games I believe where the players actually interact with the headquarters of their given organization. but they still seem like they could still operate under a higher authority to perform their tasks.
Ah ok. Maybe Ducchess could tease Marigold by "punishing" her with a good time if she felt like it. And Ducchess saying to Marigold, "Now, don't let me catch you wearing the tiara again *wink*"
