Maybe they can carry some deadly viruses, I've actually never heard anything like this before, but new viruses appear all the time. My Jerboa was a long-eared one. A neighbor of mine had a different one, a smaller Jerboa with rather short ears. We've brought them together once, but they seemed disinterested. They sniffed each other a little bit and then went back to search for food.
