"Clear creeks and cool mountain mornings Honest work out in the field Corn bread in my mama's kitchen Daddy saying grace before the meal Family ties run deep in this land And I'm never very far from what I am
I was born country, and that's what I'll always be Like the rivers and the woodlands, wild and free I got a hundred years of down home running through my blood I was born country, and this country's what I love" - "Born Country" by Alabama
Felt like doing a very personal picture for myself. I was tempted to also title this "Carolina in My Mind" by James Taylor because that song also describes this picture just as well.
I was born and raised in North Carolina. But also visited my relatives in Virginia a lot, too.
I moved to Florida in 2016 and I live in a big city now. Way bigger than the town I came from. While I do love having the convenience of so many nice stores nearby, I still really miss the countryside and the woods and wildlife. Nothing truly beats it. I used to honestly be ashamed of my southerness and country accent, but now I honestly embrace it.
Grew up running around barefoot outside. Grew up being around my relatives' barn and livestock. Grew up being around a family that had deep ties to each other. Grew up with some dang good home-cooked food. Grew up with that southern "tell-it-how-it-is" bluntness, haha.
I'd love to move back eventually, but currently, it's not possible. I really really really miss North Carolina. Maybe one day... I'll get to go back. <3
