Why do I draw so many TV characters when anyone could just Google the real deal if they really want to see them? XD Ultimately, furries are more interested in each other than in TV/film characters, anyway ...so it's good to draw each other's OCs from time to time.
Of course there are problems inherent in such a thing: permissions, sensitivities, the fickleness of the owners, etc. Then, of course, it almost never fails that I'll receive request notifications if I draw someone's OC (and, though I almost always say no to these, it is upsetting to---I dunno if denying someone offends God or not ...but I'm not going there right now).
Anyway, I happened to have LooneyTunesFan1970 on my DA Chat yestermorn, and with neither of us having anything to say, I offered to make a draft of their OC: Jesse Fox
And, of course, this upload was the consequence of my attempt at drawing the above-linked. ^^
Jesse has an obvious Looney-Tunes/WB structure, with a head somewhat inspired by Wakko Warner ...so that's what I went with. I thought the hairstyle was inspired by that of George Harrison, but LooneyTunesFan1970 said it's more his own thing, inspired by the 'curtains' haircut. Personally, I still don't see that, but I drew as-described to me.
The goal wasn't to 'just draw' the character, or redraw them 'Ferret style', but to bring out (what I thought to be) the inspirations behind the design. :3
LOONEYTUNESFAN1970: "Well actually to tell the truth behind the hair... it actually came from an old OC of mines that preceded my current one. And the idea of Jesse being a fox came from an even older OC dating back to at least 2013 or so. And the red shirt and blue shorts was introduced in like 2014. So it's a tradition :3 I came up with the hair myself since I was trying super hard in trying to come up with a design that didn't look unoriginal or copied"
