I don't remember who but someone suggested drawing Jake from Taz-Mania. I always liked him and loved the episode Jake's Big Date. Jake's attachment to Heather is such a perfect little boy crush. Child characters in cartoons usually don't act weird like real kids do sometimes and in this one it came off perfectly. Heather is a real cutie too. I should draw her more.
Female Tazmanian Devils always looked strange on that series... I don't think the hulking shoulders do them any favors.
Having said that, I'm glad people remember that show! It was one of the unsung heroes of the FOX Kids line-up, ranking right up there with Eek! the Cat. The father with his Bing Crosby imitation was just fantastic.

They do look odd that way. I've always liked females with hips too. Still, Molly and Mom and this little cutie were pretty interesting to me at the time. Of course so were Digory, Axl, and the Platypus Brothers. I always kind of assumed those two were incestuous roommates.

I do so remember the eppie and I always thought wee Jake was so very cute!! I remember wee Molly touching Jake's belly asking him what he has in there, and Jake said very bashfully, "Nothing" and the conversation stopped. Tis was a very cute eppie. Tis was so cute of how Jake was trying to do everything in his power to please her. I will have to watch me Tasmania VHS tapes again. Tiny Toons too!! Tis two series I wish Warner Brothers put out on DVD.

This is a very cute sketch! Jake's Big Date was my favorite episode of that great series, in part because the writing for the kids was so authentic. It was obviously written by someone who'd been around kids a lot. "I'm drawing a horse so I can ride home!"
(The other part that made it my favorite was a shot-for-shot recreation of a movie scene so obscure I'm pretty sure only myself, the storyboarder, and three other people got the joke. But it was a good one.)

It was a nice show and that episode was so cute. I loved the way they actually acted like children the most. So many child characters don't act or talk like real children.
