Prologue:

The western winds whistle across the small Northern town. Cold, yet oddly soothing, a light breeze blowing the oak trees that covered the town. A town normally so quiet, so peaceful was lit up for the first time this year, for tonight was important, the one time everyone comes together to celebrate, to enjoy! Tonight was the beginning of the New Year! The town’s market was filled with lively shoppers looking for the finest bottles of wines and whiskeys, meats and vegetables all preparing to spend tonight with those they love, friends and family.

However, in a lonely corner of this town sat a small cottage the exterior lined with beautiful flowers, a small white picket fence, inside of this house was not a celebration as through a little white door, up a small carpeted staircase stood a small, grey cat, ears perked up high, tail swaying softly; the look of love glowing in his widened eyes. Today wasn’t just the beginning of the new year, but also the day he would do it, the day his master would finally notice him. There was nothing in this world that could stop this kitten from being with the one he loved.

Chapter One:

The sounds of small paws would be heard as the petite grey feline descended the small staircase, his eyes glimmering with passionate love as he walked through his small cottage, he stepped through a small archway into a kitchen perfectly sized for such a small being. Kneeling he opens a cupboard pulling out a stainless steel kettle and a bag of tea leaves, stored neatly on the counter a box of matches lay, the cat removed one of them and set it down atop the box. He gives a soft nod, walking over to a white range the top containing two small elevated rings, under that a small hatch with a compartment for coals. He opens the hatch carefully and pokes the coals with a small metal rod, the sounds of crunching could be heard as the coals crumbled against the stick, forming slightly smaller rocks, he places a couple of pieces of neatly chopped blocks of firewood into the little compartment and grabs the match, striking it with a soft swipe. A poof would be heard as the head of the match began to light up, a small flickering flame growing from the small head. The cat carefully places the match down into the compartment allowing the firewood to set alight, the coals soon after catching alight themselves, he blows a couple of times onto the wood and coal before closing the hatch carefully, allowing the flames to smoulder but not grow.

Looking out of a small, clear window a field of trees and flowers could be seen, the morning sun shining down onto them lighting the field up in beautiful, bright colours, pink, purple, green and blue all humming softly in the morning light. The cat smiles as he takes the kettle over to a small bucket by the window, he places the kettle down next to it and opens the top, carefully picking up the bucket and pouring water into the steel container. A small splash would be heard as the pouring ceases and the lid closes.

“Note to self, I need to get a bigger bucket!”

The feline says to himself, his voice soft, almost feminine in tone. He’d nod softly as he takes the kettle over to the range, setting it down onto a small elevated ring sat just above the compartment where the coal would now be smouldering with burning heat, the cat would tap two times on the counter before turning and walking back through the arch he entered from, entering an adjacent room. This room would be much more sizable, containing a set of small chairs sat tucked under a little mahogany table, across from this a fireplace sat, it had visibly been used recently as ash would be piled up at the bottom of the large area where wood would normally be placed, in front of this fire a small clothes horse would be out holding clothes with a pair of shoes neatly tucked below the horse.

Laying flat on a pink and white dress lay a note, upon reading the note would say:
“Good luck, Ry. I believe in you - Sarah”

Ry would give a small grin as he brushed his hand over the soft dress, he took the note from the dress and folded it up, putting it onto the mantle place.
He’d turn and close the curtain behind him as he carefully got undressed from his nightwear, tying his hair back into a neat ponytail. His hands would grip the dress carefully as he’d unzip the back of it, beginning to carefully put it on, sliding the soft fabric up to his body, finishing by zipping it back up. He’d untie his hair and allow it to flow freely down his back, the soft, curly brown locks swaying as he reached out and grabbed a small pair of nylon stockings that were sat next to the dress on the clothes horse. Sitting himself down he sticks his legs out and begins to carefully slide them up, neatly fixing them to remove and folds, a look of happiness perched upon his small, fluffy grey face.

In the kitchen the sound of whistling could be heard, Ry immediately lights up with excitement as he jumps to his feet and rushes back through to the kitchen. Entering; the steaming kettle would be whistling away to itself ready to be poured, approaching it he picks up a small pink and white china teacup and sets it down next to the kettle. The petit feline carefully stands upon his tiptoes, reaching up to a cupboard and pulling out a small brown tea-bag before placing it into the cup.
Slowly and carefully the cat grasps the handle of the kettle, lifting it and tilting it, making sure that the water pours into the cup. As the water rises the feline's eyes gaze upon the colour changing water, seeing it shift from the clean transparent colour to a muddy brown. Despite the colour what was being brewed was a wondrous drink, a morning booster, a social drink. One small cup with so many jobs and desired by so many! He grabs a small silver spoon and begins to stir the drink at a rather gentle pace, once stirring had finished the teabag was swiftly removed and carefully set to one side, steam emitted from its surface as the hot bag laid still and finished.

The cat's eyes close a little as a thought crosses his mind, he looks around the room for a few quick seconds before turning his attention to the cupboard beside him. Curiosity in his voice he speaks softly to himself:
"Sugar today? I'm not sure, I need to be calm today, it's a big day. But I do like my sugar... Ugh, why is tea always such a struggle."

Ry giggles to himself softly before shaking his head and lifting the cup and taking it back to the living room with a friendly, loving smile. He sits himself down next to the fireplace and sighs a sigh of relief as he begins to sip his tea with a smile.

Chapter Two:

Bong! Bong! The sound of the clock echoes around the room, the feline's eyes dart around and up to the clock face, his eyes watching the hands tick carefully around the face, he gives a swift nod before standing and speaking to himself:

"It's time. I'm so nervous... excited, gosh I'm not sure what I'm feeling!"

He blushes and smiles a little before leaning down and picking up a small pink satchel bag from next to his chair, carefully hoisting it over his shoulder and adjusting it to sit neatly against his side. A grin forms on his face as he gives another swift nod. Leaning down the feline grabs the teacup and quickly goes back to the kitchen to leave it for when he returns, ready to clean.
After this, he finds himself in the main hallway of his small cottage, the small cat stands before the big wooden door, his face reading excitement and determination. Today was the biggest day of his life, the best day of his life! Today he would be meeting someone that would change everything! Leaning forward he grasps the small brass knob, twisting it slowly before carefully pulling the door open. The sun shoots it's rays down through the open door surrounding him in a halo of godly light.

This is something I started working on back in February but never got the chance to finish. I decided to add some more to it to get my spark for writing back and thus I thought I'd share its progress with the world!

It's nothing amazing as of yet, but I wanted to dip my toes into the writing scene and show the world what I can do!
