This is a preview of the first issue of my upcoming comic. I know a lot of fans are absolutely starving for it, so I thought it best to feed your appetite for now.

The comic will be broken into issues, like traditional trade paper backs, aiming for 24ish pages. As of this writing, I have 13 pages inked and awaiting text/color.

Page 2 notes:
This page has pacing issues and will definitely be redone before release.

"The Black Idol" is just the title of the first story. The comic, as a whole, still has no title. Titling comics is hard, especially when you're going for something of a very specific feel and context. Needs to be marketable, but also fit the tone of the comic, and that's difficult when you're going for sci-fi and Lovecraftian horror.

Page 3 notes:
Alan Moore's "Watchmen" was an important influence for the visual style. His artist used color in a way I'm not, but he used a minimal sort of shading that I thought looked nice and would accelerate the drawing process.

More importantly, I was impressed with how much he managed to fit onto one page with his nine-panel layout, so I directly borrowed that which helped cut down on page length.

Page 4 notes:
I really want this comic released as soon as I can. I absolutely need it released before Anthrocon, but I think you can safely expect it somewhat before June. The comic will be released one issue at a time - meaning, once per month, I'll unload 24 pages on you guys all at once.

Haha, yes, I definitely see what you mean. He goes for the more psychedelic design with that, which is pretty awesome.

I'm positive nothing bad will ever happen to these characters.  Finding an Elder-God-style statue on the moon happens all the time.  Very safe.

24 pages a month? That's almost like one page a day!

Dave Gibbons was the artist and letterer (sp?) of Watchmen and it was colored by John Higgins

*insert asinine GI Joe the more you know crap here ...*

... *goes to shove watchmen back on its shelf* ...

*gibbers*  Finally new Immelmann stuff!

I do see the slight Watchmen influence in p3, and p2's... pacing... issues?  I don't see really a pacing issue there, I see an indication of driving across surface, a shot identifying our main characters (at least, assumed to be main characters, as they've been given a straight face shot), and then a lead-in to their goal.  What seems to be the pacing problem?

I'll be honest I'm having a hard time understanding what, aside from P1's premise that they're on the Lunar Surface, P1's second panel is supposed to be presenting.  Is it the craft they landed on, before using the transit vehicle in P2?
