And here is another Donkey Kong Country remix. The Cave Dweller concert song in a re-arranged FM Adlib (OPL2) version, to make it sound like an old DOS game.

it was actually just an experiment because i was curious on how it would sound like with OPL2 FM synthesis.

it seems to be missing something in here but otherwise it still has alot of the same feel from the original version

yeah i agree. That theme in particular looses a lot through the thin metallic FM adlib sound. You can clearly hear that the DKC soundtrack was handsewed for the awesome SNES soundchip and it's huge repertoire of different instruments. :)

i miss the old days where music and gameplay took over rather than the graphics like todays games

I think the advent of CD music took away some creative spirit on console and PC games due to the hardware limits that have gone. Sometimes it is a lot more creativity refreshing when you have some limits (limited tracks/channels, soundsets, synth engines, soundresolution, databank memory). In other words: sometimes less is more. I dunno who ever came up with that saying but there lies a lot of wisdom in these words. And yes, i see it the same way you do. That's also why i miss the 90s for that particular reason.
