The Story Thus Far
2BIT here! This is my best attempt to summarize the key events of the entire Sonic GeneX fanfiction series for anyone eager to just jump into the final story without bothering to go back and read past entries! Naturally, major spoilers here. However, I have to skip huge amounts of each story's plot, and many characters are completely ignored to make this work. My fanfiction series is massive and quite detailed.
It is actually my hope that these summaries will get you interested in some of the stories they are summarizing, I worked hard on all of them.
Story 1 - Tails the Fox
Our story begins on a day when Sonic and Tails yet again must stop a scheme from Dr. Eggman. The scientist has teamed up with clones of Tails and Knuckles, "Copter" the fox and Punchy the echidna. As the opposing forces gather the Chaos Emeralds, they clash with GUN, led by the bigoted Sgt. Richard Gunner, and Tails and Copter face deadly dangers after a prophecy from the mysterious hooded figure known as the Doomsayer.
After Tails and Copter have faced off several times, the Chaos Emeralds are gathered, and Eggman unwittingly unleashes Kosmo the morph, a being created by the same scientist who created Copter & Punchy; Bucky the rat. Kosmo has no memories, only rage, and he attempts to grab the emeralds and use them to destroy the world.
Sonic and Shadow are able to keep the Chaos Emeralds from Kosmo, but they are wounded. Tails takes up the Chaos Emeralds and becomes Super Tails to defeat Kosmo's enraged form. Copter joins him using the power of special relics; the Chaos Tailbands. With the day saved, Tails and Copter become friends, and Copter leaves Tails with one of the tailbands before leaving.
Story 2 - A New Beginning/Soleanna Struggle
Sgt. Gunner is quick to blame the Kosmo incident entirely on Bucky and his experiments, including Copter. The police begin hunting Copter even as villains pursue him seeking his tailband. Meanwhile, Bucky creates new experiments. Experiment 7, Heather the phoenix, is consumed by anger and flees from her creator, heading for Soleanna. The Doomsayer tells Copter of this, and joined by Punchy and his friend Rainbow, Copter goes to Soleanna to help Heather escape pursuit and be free. During the trip, they meet the hooded old timer Dimentime, who exists in multiple dimensions.
Two timelines play out. Copter goes on an adventure with his friends, including Gemini the fennec, but in the end the quest is interrupted by the arrival of Solaris, the result of Sonic's own Soleanna adventure.
Sonic and Princess Elise attempt to erase the events of this timeline, but an ally of Mephiles the dark travels further back in time, and changes the past to enable him to return. In the new timeline, Mephiles combines with Heather to become Solenix. Dimentime reveals himself as Copter from the previous timeline, and using magic from the wand of his timeline's Gemini, he sparks memories in Heather that drive her to fight Mephiles. She sacrifices herself to stop his destructive plans...
Story 3 - The Series 1/Entering Despair/Chronicles
While fleeing police pursuit, Copter finds himself hiding out in Eggman's tower base from back when he worked for the doctor. Saving the Chao there from a crazed robot, Copter decides to live in the abandoned base.
Kosmo is revealed to be attempting to change for the better in order to coexist with the rest of the world, in spite of military pursuit. Shadow aids his escape from the military, seeing a bit of himself in the morph.
Punchy the echidna struggles with his dark form, a powerful second personality within him.
Meanwhile, Rainbow the echidna's sister, Violet, is recruited to the Covenant of Despair, a mobian army fueled by hatred of humans. Violet herself is motivated by vengeance not only over the death of her parents at the hands of GUN, but at the general mistreatment of her kind by humans that she has witnessed through her life.
Violet is trained by Fera the wolf, and soon begins to embark on missions. Eventually these missions lead to the death of GUN's Col. Thade, and Gunner is promoted to his rank to fill the vacancy.
At some point, Sonic Chronicles happened. To prevent the bad end of that game, Silver was sent to the past to before the fall of Angel Island. His intervention altered history, but another was interfering with time as well, and retrieved the Mask of Enerjak from the Twilight Cage, which was used to wipe out the entire Nocturnus Tribe except Shade before the one who used it was himself killed. Shade retired to a peaceful life in Central City...for a time.
Story 4 - Knuckles the Echidna (this story is WAY too complex to effectively summarrize, but here we go...)
First, the flashbacks: In the distant past, Tikal is revealed to still be alive after sealing Chaos, but her body is tethered to the Master Emerald due to her soul being contained within. Survivors from Chaos' attack find her, including Athair and an echidna from the Raisol tribe, Radia. Chaos' rage couldn't be contained though, and a Shadow Chaos is on the loose. A hero known as Howler offers help to stop Shadow Chaos, and they seek the hidden Chaos Relics to accomplish this. However, Howler is only out for power, and he ultimately betrays the echidnas, mortally wounding Tikal! They manage to petrify Howler, and Radia hides the Chaos Relics again while Athair becomes a guardian of the Master Emerald. (Shadow Chaos is sealed away in the Chaos Shrine with the Tailbands in the end)
Bucky also has flashbacks. We learn that he was a human, transformed into a rat after an accident on the Space Colony ARK. His family shunned him after his change, but a raven named Hope accepted him, and they fell in love. She became his lab assistant, and together they planned many of the genetic experiments Bucky would eventually create. But GUN wanted to silence Bucky, as he was an ARK scientist, and eventually he was found by Sgt. Murten and his protege, Gunner. Murten killed Hope, and Bucky killed Murten in retaliation, with Gunner vowing revenge.
In the present day, Howler had become the Darkseeker, surviving with the immortality power of the Chaos Crown. He organizes the Covenant of Despair to hunt the Chaos Relics and sets up a plan to wipe out all life on Earth, using the science of GUN's Dr. Nammad, the magic of Gemini's wand, and the Solaris energy from a revived Heather to create "Project GXterminate." All the while, Despair believes the true goal is war with humanity and putting mobians in control of the world, forcing the characters to pick sides... and putting Sonic into conflict with them when he refuses to pick sides.
The Master Emerald is needed to complete the Darkseeker's plan, and when Despair comes for it, Knuckles is thrust into the action as well. The Chaos Crystal guarded by Rainbow is also key, which gets Punchy and Dark Punchy involved. Further, Kosmo spends the conflict trying to choose a side...
In the end, Kosmo proves instrumental in defeating GXterminate, but Howler fuses with Shadow Chaos using the power of the Master Emerald and the Chaos Crystal to aid his transformation! Knuckles gathers the Chaos Emeralds and becomes Super Knuckles, teaming up with Dark Punchy to battle Howler, now calling himself Despair. They knock off his Chaos Crown, ending his immortality. He and Shadow Chaos vanish into the ocean along with Despair's island headquarters.
Story 5 - Generations
The story of Sonic Generations plays out, except many more characters are pulled into White Space by the Time Eater. A feature of Copter's plane shields him from being frozen like the others, and as he explores, he discovers his alternate self, Dimentime. They also discover their friends and places from both their own and Sonic's pasts frozen in time.
While Sonic proceeds along single-mindedly, Copter is quick to discover Eggman is behind this. He also discovers Mephiles roaming White Space. He dives into the shadows of time-frozen people, adding their power to his own. Copter and Dimentime realize that Eggman's forces and Mephiles both must be stopped.
Working with Sonic's friends, their own friends, and a few old adversaries including Bucky, Copter works his way through White Space unraveling Eggman's schemes. As Sonic goes to face the Time Eater, an army of villains and robots through history attacks everyone else. Copter, meanwhile, fights the Doomsayer, who shows him an apocalyptic future where Gemini's enemies, the Lost Ones, have won.
Bucky invents a means to restore time to normal, and with the Time Eater's defeat everyone is returned home. But Mephiles survives and combines with what is left of the Time Eater, becoming Temporal Emperor Mephiles. He rebuilds time as a massive Labyrinth, forcing the heroes to navigate it in order to retrieve the Chaos Emeralds once again.
The Sonics and Copters face Mephiles in a final battle. It takes Hyper Sonic to finally defeat him. Bucky's machine restores time again while Eggman is left looking for a door out of White Space. Mephiles also takes refuge in White Space, but he is found by the Doomsayer, who kills him and absorbs his time powers.
Story 6 - The Series 2-3
After the events of Sonic Lost World, Gunner convinced the government to put out a warrent for Sonic's arrest, citing events such as the planet being split apart and the Deadly Six sucking life energy from the world as results of Sonic's failure to use his speed responsibly. His plan was to use a device invented by Bucky to steal Sonic's speed and give it to a robot. Bucky's invention of this device was enough to gain himself and his experiments a pardon from the government, but many of the Experiments remained in hiding out of wariness.
After several months, Tails decided to end GUN's hunt for Sonic, planning to use his capture as a pretext to get to the power-stealing device and defeat it. His plan failed, and Sonic's speed was given to a Sonic robot. However, Sonic was able to regain his speed and defeat it.
Soon, the Battle Bird Armada resurfaced. GUN created a team of captive criminals kept in line with shock collars and sent them to battle the birds. Meanwhile, the Zodiac council began to move, and aquired Gemini's sister, Libra, for their purposes. Sonic meddled in the Zodiac council's schemes and got sent to the past, where he encountered his Uncle Chuck. Altering the past, he found himself now having a home with his uncle in the present.
The battle birds were eventually arrested, though some of the criminals on GUN's team escaped. The thirteen Chaos Relics had all been discovered at this point, and Illusi the Shrew, who held the Chaos Key, decided to put together a tourney to determine the true chosen holders of the relics in order to aid along a prophecy from Tikal that would counter the Doomsayer's grim prophecies.
The relics were all made prizes for the tourney and GUN sponsored the event. Sonic couldn't enter as Uncle Chuck had gone missing, and he set out to find him. A hundred other participants had entered, though, and faced combat, a race and a maze.
Sonic found Uncle Chuck robotisized at the hand of Eggman, who had created the robotisizer after studying the technology of an Eggman from another world. He'd also aquired the Phantom Ruby at this point, and planned to put these aquisitions to work to conquer the world.
Tails won the Chaos Tailbands, Lucky the cat won the Chaos Sword (though it would quickly return to its original owner), Fera the wolf won the Chaos Cards, Shade the echidna won the Chaos Gauntlets, Punchy the echidna won the Chaos Boots, Lospecter the Lost One stole the Chaos Key, Knuckles won the Chaos Claws, Blaze won the Chaos Crown and Conan the raccoon won the Chaos Wing. They would need these treasures for the coming battle.
Story 7 - Infinite Crisis
With the power of the Phantom Ruby combined with new ally Infinite, Eggman conquered the world and captured Sonic. A resistance formed on two fronts, with Knuckles leading a team joined by amnesiac rookie Fera, and Sally Acorn leading a separate group of Freedom Fighters that many of our other heroes joined with.
During Sonic's six-month absence, Tails sealed the weaker heroes in a bunker, such as Big, Vanilla, and his own girlfriend, Cream.
The Zodiac council was fighting their own internal battles during all of this. With his tailband gone, Copter fell prey to the promises of Cancer the vulture and became Aries. Killed in action, Razor the porcupine was brought back as Scorpio, working against Cancer and Aries. Eddie the hyena joined the Zodiac council as Scorpio, too. They stole a book with ancient knowledge of the Chaos Relics from Dr. Eggman.
Ultimately, the Resistance and the Freedom Fighters teamed up at Eggman's base, battling Infinite's phantom armies and looking to free the robotisized prisoners using a de-robotisizing Wispon Rotor the walrus invented.
During the final battle, Sally was seemingly killed by Infinite. In retaliation, Tails jumped into Null Space with Kosmo and Heather. Remembering the strength to face his fears that he'd learned in the first story of this series, Tails used the tailbands to go super and helped defeat Infinite while Sonic and Fera defeated the Death Egg Robot! There was no sign of Infinite after the battle, but Shadow Chaos, who had stirred due to the illusions of Chaos, located a surviving Phantom Ruby and sealed himself inside it.
Story 8 - The Series 4-5
The reconstruction of the world had begun, Eggman was in hiding. Some Robotisized mobians were still missing and their friends began desperately searching for them. In the meantime, Punchy had realized his love for Rainbow and made plans to marry her.
Gemini's friend Timothy the fawn, who was held captive by the Lost Ones, was returned to her in a half-hearted attempt to coax her to stop fighting them. Due to the nature of their time travelling war, the Lost Ones could kill Timothy at any time and he'd never really be free. Gemini decided to travel further back in time, seeking to defeat the Lost Ones at their point of origin. Silver went with her despite feeling it was a bad idea.
In the past, Gemini witnessed the origin of the Chaos Relics. Created from powerful crystals by the Raisol tribe, they were given to heroes in order to battle the Doomlings. These were anti-life creatures that were born of the primordial ooze, just as life, and they desired to return life to the primordial state. Light Gaia charged a dinosaur with the task of stopping them, turning him into a hedgehog and gifting him with eternal life. "Rex" the hedgehog became the first holder of the Chaos Sword.
As Gemini witnessed these stories and tried to alter them, the Zodiac council got in the way. However, Cancer and Aries appeared to be on her side. Cancer wished to alter time for his own ends. However, the council's leader, Ophiuchus the snake, wished to abandon their own world and instead use the council's power to conquer the multiverse.
These events were interrupted by Punchy's wedding, which was invaded by Gunner due to Copter/Aries turning up, Gunner having been told by Ophiuchus that he was evil. Fera encountered Gunner during the invasion, and her memory returned, reverting her to a wicked state. However, Punchy and Rainbow were married in the Raisol Sanctuary, which Timothy was able to restore to its pristine state with magic now that he'd seen it in the past.
Rex was corrupted by darkness over time. The Doomlings spoke to him, promising him eternal life beyond what Light Gaia would permit him. He betrayed his team, and Gemini was unable to stop it, forced to watch as the Lost Ones time travelled to hold her back. She saw Rex become Apocalos, the leader of the Lost Ones. Apocalos created Lospecter, Losipher, Loscream and Loskeletor from his former teammates. However, the surviving teammates were able to seal them away until the future, and they went on to hide the Chaos Relics to keep them out of evil hands.
The time traveling Lost Ones were revealed to work for Ophiuchus, who promised them the world as long as they waited until the proper time in history. Realizing that the Zodiac Council were villains, Gemini teamed up with Copter, Libra and Sonic to defeat them. Cancer was killed in the ensuing battle, and Ophiuchus was ultimately sealed in a dimension of nothingness. They also rescued one of Rex's old team from the Zodiac Council's prison; Astra the fennec, who created the Zodiac Council ages ago.
It was suggested that Gemini and Astra should train the holders of the Chaos Relics to fight the Lost Ones now that they weren't bound by their deal with Ophiuchus. So, she gathered as many of the relic holders as she could and began to train them. Punchy and Rainbow returned from their honeymoon months later...with a child, Aurora.
Sonic quickly gathered a team to finally free the robotisized mobians from Eggman's grasp, invading Scrap Brain Zone.
Fera wasted no time in rebuilding the Covenant of Despair, finding that Howler could speak to her through a Despair Seal. Her allies plotted to overthrow her, though. Meanwhile, Gunner plotted to destroy Despair and overthrow GUN. Finding unrest within GUN after multiple wars, he discovered it easy to seize control from the Commander. He later captured Fera, putting Despair in command of Anubis the jackal, who now held the Despair Seal.
Lospecter had used the Chaos Key to separate Copter's darkness from him, forming Dark Copter. Dark Copter soon joined Despair, and finding the Phantom Ruby, became a terrible threat.
As Eggman, Despair and GUN terrorized Troblusk City, Sonic led Gemini's trained group of heroes in a stand against evil. Eggman picked up some robots from his old base and fled the battle. Conan had aquired the Chaos Sword and Chaos Cards in the time since the tourney, and while Lospecter tried to get back his old cards, he only obtained one. Fera was rescued by Sonic and Illusi, the shrew being like a father to her. Copter stood up to Dark Copter, and with Gemini's wand was able to incapacitate him, enabling Sonic to destroy him. GUN's robots were wrecked, Despair was beaten back, and Lospecter's pet was killed. All groups vowed vengeance upon Sonic.
Fera slipped away after the battle, but the other heroes took a moment to celebrate. Rainbow was about to introduce a group of their time-travelling children from the future when the Doomsayer frightened them off. He repeated his doomsday prophecy, stating time was up, and that a fox of Prower blood would still die to signal the end. During the diversion, Lospecter used the Chaos Key to free Dark Punchy and Dark Kosmo before going forth to free every dark experiment form!

Chaos Hearts
Lucky the Cat teams with Whisk the divine and an alternate Tails to travel many worlds, battling Heartless with his keyblade and taking on the scheme of a dark villain known as Garland. This is the most important extra story to check out.
Nightmare Zone
Numerous Halloween Specials, many quite dark and full of death. They are canon only insofar as the multiverse theory applies to the series.
Project 20/Dimensional Clash/Legacy
These 3 are the next most important extra stories to look up. Each is just 1 chapter!
Project 20 reminisces about Sonic's past battles with Eggman while presenting a possible victory for the doctor...or is it just fantasy?
Dimensional Clash is where Eggman learns of the robotisizer. SatAM, AoSTH, Sonic Underground and Sonic Boom cross over with Sonic GeneX in this story.
Set years in the future, Legacy follows Dimentime's final adventure as he connects with Chopper Prower, Copter's son, and helps defeat Gunner, who has taken over the world.
BIT Squad
Misadventures of our writer, 2BIT, and his squad of alternate selves. It is a comedy series of 22 short chapters and lots of crossovers.
Christmas Specials
Not-terribly-important to the canon, there are 2 Christmas specials following Copter's holiday adventures.
Mario & Sonic
Some Mario & Sonic entries exist. They are also non-canon.
And that's about it... I'll try to put together some other little things to try and generate hype for the final story, but I'm working hard on that story so I may be unable to do much extra stuff. Until I can start posting those final chapters, feel free to peruse my gallery and read up on some of the previous stories as you please!
