The Newbie Artist Training Grounds by Equestria Daily have snuck up on me! I made the plan to participate in them again this year, but I didn't reckon with them before July. I only found out they have started because of coincidentally seeing a picture for Day 2 that had been uploaded to Derpibooru. It was a cold surprise that they started, but I got ready to participate regardless! This year, however, will see a change from my usual participation..... For the first time ever since 2013, I am not uploading my pony art for the NATG on Deviantart. With the forced permanence of Eclipse that every Deviantart user got bestowed with last month, I have decided to switch with my pony art to Inkbunny. It's not the same on Deviantart anymore..... So, here it is, my first picture for the NATG X here on Inkbunny!
This is my picture for Day 1. I missed this day, but decided to immediately draw something for it and catch up anyway, since the NATG have only just started. I will also submit this picture for the first makeup day once it comes.
I had the perfect idea for the prompt. A couple months ago, I got motivated to draw a pony by my friend DinkyUniverse and I decided for a drawing of Hyper Sonic looking at hieroglyphs in a pyramid in Somnambula. The picture didn't turn out well, so I decided to treat it as a practice sketch and to finish it eventually. And the prompt of Day 1 of the NATG X "Draw a pony standing/Draw a pony stuck in time" was fitting perfectly, with Hyper Sonic standing while she is stuck with archeological relics from the past.
She isn't very happy here, as you will notice. Her little sister Gooseberry desperately wanted to visit Somnambula to see the hieroglyphs inside the pyramids there. But their mom, Candy Wave, did not allow Gooseberry to make a travel to such a faraway place. As a result, Gooseberry begged her big sister Hyper Sonic to go for her instead and to check out the hieroglyphs and tell her all about them. Hyper Sonic wasn't too keen on doing that travel, she had other things to do in Canterlot, but she loves Gooseberry and couldn't say no to her wish and so, she finds herself in Somnambula inside one of the pyramids now. And even though she couldn't turn Gooseberry down, she is quite annoyed by the trip and will probably make sure to return home again soon.
The wall on the left is empty, it had gotten late and I am also battling a persistent cold right now, so I ran out of energy to draw the rest of the hieroglyphs, which is why I decided to fill only one of the walls with them.
