This pic is probably gonna piss some folks off, but honestly I do not care. This happens every year, and it's fucking tiring. I get tired of waking up to see news reports of the latest unarmed Black man, woman, or non binary person who was killed by a policeman. I'm tired of seeing my people become hashtags on twitter because of a trigger happy cop. I'm tired of seeing families lose a mother, father, child, or family friend to this shit. And before you decide to get your panties in a twist and bombard with me with your milquetoast "AlL lIvEs MaTtEr" bullshit, I never said they didn't. Before you come at me with your "WhItEs ArE kIlLeD mOrE bY pOlIcE", okay....why aren't y'all protesting that shit??? You look pathetic when you bring it up when folks are trending #BlackLivesMatter. If you truly cared about the rate cops are killing your people, you would wanna fight it right? You would want to stand up against that shit right? If you aren't down to fight for a change, don't bring up something to be contrary. You look like an asshole when you do that. Is this post gonna be inflammatory? Yes. Do I care? Fuck no. I'm here. I'm Black. And I'm Proud to be Black. And I'm not here to say you can't be proud of what ethnicity you are. But if your pride is rooted in the oppression of a group of people, find something else to be proud of.

I agree that police brutality is a problem and would happily volunteer in events geared towards helping curb it. I also don't think that only black people should be allowed to use the N word. Is that alright with you?

I try not to use the n word because of how much malice is behind it regardless of context, and would wish nobody to use it honestly

I suspect it's when we try to control how words are used that we end up prolonging their ability to hurt us. When was the last time you cared about someone saying the F-word? It doesn't matter until someone tells you it does.

Okay but why the fuck would you even want to use the N Word if you're not a PoC?
Knowing its history, implications and everything, what incentive could you possibly have to want to use it?
That's what I don't understand.

Immaturity comes before maturity, my friend. Censorship always starts when the youths aren't allowed to say "bad" words.

Besides, it's more of a historical term now. We put it on a pedestal and say, racist white slave owners used to say this. To my knowledge, people only really use the version that ends with an A to address each other.

See, I'm not trying to censor anyone... All I'm saying is that this word has been made inherently racist if used by anyone except the group of people it was used against. They have every right to reclaim it for themselves.
I'm not saying that no one except PoC is allowed to use it, I'm just saying that anyone who chooses to use it and isn't a PoC is racist, whether they intend it or not. (These are not my words, by the way, but the words of anti-racism scholar and coach Tupoka Ogette)
It's any person's choice whether they want to use the N-Word just as it is any person's choice whether they want to be racist. If you're using the N-Word and you aren't a PoC, you are racist. And that's your choice alone. But you have to live with the consequences, whatever they might be. Period.

So if you adopted white children and they immaturely repeated the word in a silly way, you would not tell them to stop?

And why is it racist to say the N-word without being a PoC?

I'm white myself, by the way, in case you were wondering. And I would tell them about the history of this word and the implications it still has to this day. I would ask them if they still wanted to use the word knowing what it can cause in other people... If they say they do, I guess they need to be beaten up by someone not reacting as calmly as I did to understand ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm not pretending to be a good parent with that last remark btw, there's more than one reason why I don't want children XD

Gee, I wonder... Why not ask your search engine of choice "why nword racist" and let the millions of articles you'll find there tell you? I bet they can explain that to you in a way more conclusive manner than I ever could.

Well what if I'm using it in a historical context? "White people back then used this word"

By your definition, even placing it in a dictionary would make the writer a racist.

Dude, seriously... I really don't have the time, energy, capacity or ability to answer every single "but what about X but what about Y but what about Z" question you throw at me. If you need to ask these questions, you did not understand the issue. I am not obliged to teach you stuff you can very easily look up yourself. So as I mentioned before: please just go to your search engine of choice and type in "why nword racist". If you want answers, do your own research.
Once more: anyone is free to use any word, but they have to be aware of the consequences using it might have.

It was just way too vague. Again, should the people who write dictionaries be punished for including it? You made it sound all-encompassing.

You seem to be unable to understand what I'm writing... What's so hard to get about "do your own research"? It is not my duty to teach you and to answer your questions. Your whataboutism doesn't make this discussion any more worth continuing for me personally, as I said, I have neither time nor capacity to do this.
Conduct your own research, think for yourself or ask people more able to answer your questions than I am. That's all I can say at this point, so please just don't bother repeating your question, it will be in vain here.

I know why the word is considered racist, I just want to know more about your definition.

Every one deserves a equal rite to life. Using violence to change an injustice is the ultimate failure of a society built upon understanding. It’s truly a shame that people only listen when it’s far to late.
