A voice echoed into the earpiece over radio frequencies as the sound of the truck moving and shaking was heard around him. A gator sat silently as he listened to what was coming through. “You are in enemy territory now, we will only be able to aid you through the radio and so we won’t be around to get you out of a tight situation. You remember your mission, correct? You are to infiltrate the enemy base, and find and destroy Project White Hound. We don’t have much intel on the situation, but we have gathered information on who you are after. His name is Kevin Maxwell.” The voice, a rough and authoritative, yet friendly voice spoke from the other side, John looking up a little in surprise at hearing the name before pressing a finger to his ear to use the radio. “Sir, that name…” He said before the voice sighed and stopped him. “I know, we were a bit confused ourselves when we saw that, I have my doubts that he is tied to you and your own family name, but for now be on your toes. Kevin isn’t the only one we have gotten intel on, he is just a member of the group. The others are as follows.” He continued speaking as John glanced out the window of his vehicle, it was the dead of night and he was being dropped off near the infiltration point.

“The leader of this group is a woman named Reina, we have no last name. Her codename is Scarlet, and so if you hear radio chatter of them referring to Scarlet, that is the leader.” He said before changing topics. “Speaking on codenames, the higher ups have decided as of now, we should refrain from using our real names due to all the unknowns, we never know who is listening. For the remainder of your mission I will just go by X, for simplicity, and to make calling me in a panic easier. We have decided it easier to dub you Scales. I know, a bit boring and very literal, but honestly it was the easiest we could come up with.” X said as John nodded to himself, a weak half chuckle leaving his mouth as he listened. “Scales is the best we got. I can’t complain.” He said as the vehicle he was in stopped and he grabbed his handgun and exited the vehicle, the driver waving him off as he was leaving, John looking as he was half a mile from the base. “And who are the rest of these people involved? Or are Kevin and Reina the only ones?” He asked as he started walking towards the location, X heard silently talking to someone before returning his attention to John. “Sorry, I was distracted. The rest are minor but are still higher than your average soldier. The first is a soldier trained personally by Reina, he is known as the Silent Assassin, but was never granted a codename. Sources indicate his name was Damien before just going by the Silent Assassin. Watch for him, he is a skilled sniper and handy with a knife.” He explained as John listened, looking around in the silent forest, the middle of night not helping his site as all he could see was the base in the distance.

“The next is a man named Jericho, one would describe him as a bandit, but he is essentially just a rogue who is skilled with explosive traps and shotguns, he is dangerous and I would not go through any doors without a quick scan of the area. Don’t need our only soldier on the mission getting blasted to the walls.” X slightly joked as John eventually made his way to the base, X occasionally stopping to do things so this was getting done really slow, but John was taking his time to remember his information. “Another member is a man named Ivan, he is an espionage expert and is the one behind our officials saying we should use these names, as he is the one who is a threat to your mission. Unfortunately that is all we were able to gather from the intel, and unfortunately we have reason to believe, there are still more highly trained units inside that aren’t just those few.” X said as he was reading a report, and sighing. “There is one last thing I wanted to share. They aren’t tied together with this current group, but there is a group who just call themselves the Mercenaries, they are a group led by a woman named Agatha, there are three of them, and a fourth who isn’t associated but works with them. We don’t know the details besides that, so please be careful. Now that you are at the base, look for a way to sneak in, I will be cutting transmission for the time being but do not hesitate to call if something comes up.” X said and cut the radio feed, leaving John alone. The gator looked at the giant wall and scanned along it, seeing down to his right was a main gate, which was where he knew to avoid.

John sighed softly as he held his pistol close and got close to the wall, walking left as he gently rubbed his hand against the wall as if feeling for anything to give him a chance of entering the area. John walked a few more steps before grunting as his foot suddenly got caught onto something as he lurched forward, glancing down at his foot noticing it was in a small hole. “That’s odd…” John said as he got himself situated and close to the ground as he started to dig a little bit, seeing a hole underneath the wall, as if used for some means of passing things between the sides, but with a little work, one might be able to slip in. John dug for a few moments and nodded to himself as he got to the ground and slowly crawled into the space, it was a bit tight as he grunted in surprise, before he started squirming his way through, trying to control his breathing as to not get himself to compressed against the small passageway. “Damn, if I knew I would be crawling through a stupid duct, I would have lost some weight.” John said to himself as he wasn’t big but he would’ve benefitted slimming himself down.

John soon made his way through the duct and managed to pull himself out on the other side, before he looked around and saw soldiers were all on duty, holding their grounds as they surveyed the area. John quickly hid behind a tree and glanced around before kneeling down and pressing a finger against his head. “X, can you hear me?” He asked as there was silence for a few seconds, until a voice came through. “Loud and clear Scales. Are you inside?” He asked him as John surveyed the area. “If so, one of our helpers for this mission is currently downloading the plans to give as an overhead view of your location.” He said before being interrupted by a woman’s voice, soft yet direct. “Hello Scales, it’s nice to meet you, My name is Dytra, for the mission though I am going by the codename A.I.” She said as John was surprised. “I figured go with something simple and easy to tie in like yourself and X. I will basically be your nerdy help for this mission. I am currently downloading the layout, but it might take some time, but from what I can see at the moment, there are four entrances.” She said, getting right to the point. “One is to the far east, and is a straight access way into the hangar, you might want to avoid going there. The next two are in the center against the wall, both lead into a central gathering area, basically like an entrance to a hotel, but without the desks and hospitality.” She said as John reached into a small bag against his waist, and grabbed a scope to look around, seeing the doors she mentioned. “Finally, to the west, there is an unguarded storage room, there is a vent shaft in the room you can use to enter but the likelihood of being heard is high so it is a big risk.” She said as John thought, seeing every entrance but that one heavily guarded, as he examined his gun and sighed. “Well, I guess the storage area is the best bet just because this little gun won’t be doing me much good against those guards.” John said as he stood and was ready to move out.

“Listen Scales. This mission won’t be easy as I said. Get in there, destroy Project White Hound and return to us safely. From here on, we will only contact you ourselves if it is urgent, you know the mission. Give us a call if you need some help, or advice. We are relying on you.” X said as the radio cut. John nodded as he held his pistol and placed his scope in his bag, standing up and moving towards the storage room. This was the start of his first major mission.
