Percival taught Precious how to defend herself at a young age. The paranoid 'gator knew he would be unable to keep her from exploring and meeting strangers, so he did the best he could to make sure she could fend for herself, even if it wasn't the most legal thing to do.
Precious didn't like this much at first, but it was the compromise they had reached. She would be free to do as she pleased as long as she learned this one thing. The gal wasn't too fond of the weapon, finding it heavy and loud, but as she grew used to it the firearm simply became an extension of her person. Precious would always carry the gun on her person, and was a competent markswoman by the time she was 6 years old.

He's never gonna leave her, but he's become more and more hands-off with her as she's grown older. Precious doesn't like this, of course. Will have to see how it develops.

Let us hope daddy will brace her arm or the gun has a good recoil compensation system. Any decent caliber will make a kid's arms pop up and down... sometimes making them fire a round with each bounce. I've seen a full grown woman do that at a firing range and it was TERRIFYING. Thankfully she managed to point down range until her clip emptied.
