Some of you may have gleaned from my story uploads that my dragon girl OC is... complicated.
In antiquity, she was a heathen spirit; a pagan entity tied to the primordial forests of northern Doregal. Upon the emergence of a new, monotheistic religion, crusades were launched across all the lands of Asantrea to ‘assimilate’ the pagan spirits - by binding them in their bones with blood rituals.
Rohanna was her name originally, and the ritual tying her to mortal cycles gave rise to a series of incarnations as her soul was born and reborn. In the Middle Ages, she was born Dagmar, the daughter of a poor farmer into a feudal system that relied heavily on slavery for growth and monumentality - and after falling foul of that bloodthirsty system, Dagmar escaped to the coast under the tutelage of her benefactor, a merchant named Aelfrad. She learned from him, and upon his death, she assumed his role, sailing the endless blue of the Mare Internum. But Dagmar was never destined for small things, a life lived in the shadow of greater quests.
Her hatred of slavery drove her, and she developed a fearsome reputation for her treatment of those who would trade in the souls of the unfortunate.
Here she is, in all her glory. Dagmar the pirate, middle-aged, canny, ruthless.
This is the most amazing piece of art I’ve commissioned - it was made by the incredibly talented MK, of MassiveAnimal Illustration - www.massiveanimal.com
