So this song is from a mixtape I've released not too long ago called Lockdown Blues, that I made specifically due to the COVID-19 lockdown (apparently the UK is reaching its peak in terms on confirmed infections), so I thought why not share each track over time here.

So this song's backstory goes like this:

I was looking online once for some different type beats and came across 80's synthwave beats. One of which came from YFG Beats and was called 'On the Run'. I gave it a listen and it reminded me heavily of the song 'Secrets' by The Weeknd, which in turn has it's own 80s sound. It also samples a song from the band Tears for Fears called 'Pale Shelter' as well as interpolates 'Talking in Your Sleep' by The Romantics.

So I thought I'd download the beat and give it a go at making a song with that sort of feel behind it, coming up with this song about being paranoid that your partner is unfaithful and seeing somebody else on the side when you're not around. This song is a huge milestone for me, because I've never delved into synthpop or synthwave until I made this song. Sure, I experiment with other genres in my music, however my main genre is rap, so to step out of my comfort zone for this song is a real nice move on my part.

It's also huge for me because this is also the first time that I've used a vocoder in my music too, which I've never tried until now. I believe it especially re-enforces the 80's sound behind the beat and gives some vocals, especially during the bridge and hook, a more Daft Punk feel to the song.
