Just kiss him.
He was right there. The harsh light from the television creating sharp, deep shadows across Raphael’s features, making him seem more threatening than he actually was. His broad shoulders were bouncing with laughter as a stupid skit played itself out on screen, whilst his sniggering was both cute and enraging because didn’t Raph feel the tension too?
Did he feel how nervous Don was? How much he wanted Raph to try to kiss him? Couldn’t he feel just how much Don craved it? It was suffocating.
He wasn’t going to dodge it or fluster. Donatello was here for this. It was his idea to watch this movie, it was his idea to cuddle close on the couch, it was his idea that Raph should definitely wrap his arm around him and that it was totally okay that he stroke the top of Don’s shell in a way that was both distracting and soothing.
Don was ready. He needed this.
Just kiss him.
“Hey, Don, you a’right? You look kinda pale.”
Donatello stared, blinking as though he’d just woken up and sunlight was threatening to blind him. Goosebumps erupted in waves over his skin as Raph’s huge hand landed on his shoulder, sliding up to half cup the side of his neck. The weight was familiar. The heat too. Raph always did this when Donnie found himself lost - in thought, in anxiety, under expectation. The yearning wasn’t and it pulled at Don’s heartstrings so tightly it made his ribcage feel too small for his lungs.
He wanted Raph. Wanted to breathe him in, taste him, be allowed to press himself as close as they both dared. He wanted comfort and acceptance and to know that it was okay, that this wasn’t just their hormones or their instincts and Raph had meant every word he’d claimed all those weeks ago.
“Don, you’re kinda freakin’ me out.”
His feelings were normal, just like Leo said. They were going to be mates. This closeness was expected. The fact that he’d caught feelings was a plus, even if they scared the everliving shit out of Donnie. Raphael had been completely open about his romantic interest. This was good. This was great, even.
Just. Kiss. Him.
Donnie jumped when one of Raph’s hot palm swept down his thigh, the other cupping his cheek, “Don. Look at me.”
He did. Straight into dark eyes honed on him and only him. Eyes that were sharp and intense and made Don melt in ways he’d never allowed himself.
“You alright?”
“Kiss me.” Don said. Or thought he said. Did he say that? His hearing was fuzzy.
“What?” Raph’s hand fell from his cheek and no, no! That isn’t what Donnie wanted at all! “Donnie, you-”
Surging up, grabbing at the thick column of Raph’s neck, closing his eyes tight because what if? What if he was wrong? What if Leo was wrong? What if what if what if-
The lips beneath his own relaxed immediately. Raph sighed, shoulders up, hands on Don’s hips to steady him as he tilted his head and made the contact better. Raph’s lips moved beneath his, slotting together in a way that made Donnie’s entire being melt and relax, the tension sliding away like mud under a warm shower.
I just kissed him.
