Vile lives in a world of super hero and super villain, and was born with the unusual ability to control and communicate with parasites. He has collected many over the years, and treats them like his children. His fur is a rat's nest of ticks, fleas, mosquitoes, and even leeches. Although they live on his body, they do not actually feed off of him. Rather Vile seeks out sources of food, whether that means hiding in the shadows while sending them to feed unnoticed, or actively kidnapping victims for his little lovelies to feast upon at their leisure. Although the latter provides a longer lasting meal, he cannot do it too often for fear of drawing unwanted attention to himself. But in a world almost constantly besieged by megalomaniacal super villains, the occasional random kidnapping falls low on priority list of heroes.
Vile is skittish and squirrely. He shuns the company of others, preferring to be alone with his precious children. He doesn't carry any grand ambitions, no desires for wealth or power, his only interest is in keeping his babies happy and healthy. Although this comes as a cold comfort to his victims, it is probably better that way, as his power would be devastating in more devious hands. For one, his parasites can easily go undetected, allowing them to slowly drain and weaken a hero without even being noticed. But even more dangerous is that like most vermin, Vile is a carrier of many virile and debilitating diseases. Just a single bite from one of his babies is often enough to land all but the most hardy of heroes in the infirmary.
So if you find yourself walking alone at night, steer clear of dark alleys and open manholes, or you may just find yourself dragged to the sewers below, doomed to serve as a meal for a host of unpleasant creepy crawlies.
So I had this idea a while back. I wanted a character who could focus more on my unusual love of parasites. Sure Nefarious can dabble in certain aspects of it, but I wanted someone more focused on it. So where as Nefarious embodies my sadistic side, Vile more embodies my love of the disturbing. I do hope to maybe use him more in the future.
