I'll be up front with you all. Art can be difficult. Inspiration is fleeting, Norithics is an intimidating fucker for someone like me, and some days I just feel like my art is objectively inferior to his, even if I'm doing something that couldn't be further from the stuff he does.

So this image. I've been wanting to do something with one of Norithics's characters for a while now, but the only ones I know even the slightest bit about are Nori himself, and Gwen. I decided to do a warm-up drawing that would have left the door open for a follow up later on down the line, as well as serving a fun debut for my new character, Maya.
In theory, it would feature Maya giving Gwen piano lessons. But Gwen is disinterested. So Maya decides to appeal to Skunkbutt's desires by letting her donk hang out during lessons, and suddenly, Gwen's ability improves.
What wound up happening was that I struggled to get a handle on Gwen, so I grabbed the Puppertone image as reference, and, as mentioned before, grew to resent my art the longer the reference remained there. Frustrated, I decided to finish the rough sketch and add some transparent whites to emphasize the layers a bit more and upload it as a failed experiment and an ever-present reminder.

I hope you like what's here, I certainly don't.

1st impression: Lord mercy these fat, wide, bench-cracking patoots! You could bend a barbell with these sumptuous seats.
2nd impression: Maaan, lining up the fingers/bodies with the keyboard would have driven me insane- that kind of thing is unreasonably hard to do well and you made it look easy.
3rd: Damn, Maya cute, even from the back. Well, especially from the back, but I mean even without seein' the face the silhouette she forms is real nice and makes me wanna see more. Also DressButt is severely underrated. Oh god do her feet not reach the floor?? That's ADORABLE.
4th: I just read the description and I'm beside myself with confusion because this was a really difficult picture and you already nailed all the hardest parts and biggest draws???
5th: Is Gwen looking up fat bulges on her phone? That's hilarious.

So anyway yeah thank you! This is really cool, and made my whole day! I have no idea why you're down on it, it looks great! o.o

It just wasn't vibing well with me. Perhaps I'll return to it some time. Your kind words have invigorated my self-esteem with this one. So thank you as well ^^

As for the keyboard. I asked like five people who have illustrator to help me out, and all of them were offline or AFK, so I made a rectangle by splitting the sketch and mirroring it, then took a screen snip of said rectangle, dropped it in Blender, made a cube, did some edge loop shenanigans, dividing it into 52 equal segments, took a screen of that, and put that back in where I used it as a base, and then made a bunch of squares which I copy-pasted to achieve the keys in the image. Maya's fingers were already aligned to the new keyboard, coincidentally.

Even this much is great but I'm sure anybody that makes art knows what it feels like to run out of steam or get bummed out comparing yourself to someone else. I hope seeing some positive comments helps your self-esteem.
