This is the story of a pig named Noah, and an orca named Kala. Noah's mother had gotten pregnant with him when she was just a teenager, and her boyfriend ran out on her when he found out. Since Noah's mother was too young to handle the responsibility, her parents raised her son instead. Meanwhile Kala had been born into a poor household with a real, abusive asshole of a father and a weak, submissive mother. For the first few years of his life, Noah was an adorable bundle of joy without a care in the world, living a pretty sheltered life, but it wasn't until he started going to school that things started to go bad.
In his first few years at school, he tried to make friends, but found that at least half of the kids didn't like him and would pick on him. This led to him starting to act out in class in an attempt to get attention and try to get the other kids to like him, this obviously backfiring and just leading to him getting in more trouble. After a while he just started to keep to himself and just ignore the other kids, only really playing with the ones who were nice to him and tried to play with him. Meanwhile Kala's first few years of school were quite different. Seeing all these kids who were wearing much nicer clothes and obviously were much happier made her jealous. She started picking on the other kids to take out her frustrations and make herself feel better. As a result, she would also get in trouble a lot.
Throughout their childhoods, both Noah and Kala really got into video gaming. Noah being introduced to them through his uncles, and his mom buying him his N64 for one of his birthdays, and Kala getting introduced to them by her father in one of his rare moments of softness, and her mom also getting her an N64 for one of her birthdays. Noah being a big fan of all kinds of games, while Kala was mostly into action games and sports games. Neither one of them really having any friends to play with besides any relatives, until they were about 6, when new people moved into town. A family of squirrel-monkeys from Britain moving into the house next to Noah, and coming from Sicily, a young bat woman and her nephew moving into the really nice house across the street from Kala.
Wanting to make a good impression, the Squirrel monkey couple came to visit Noah and his Grandparents, which is when he got to meet their daughter Alexandria, who ended up becoming Noah's first real friend. They would end up playing together a lot, and occasionally having sleep-overs. They would play N64 whenever she came to his house, and they would play PlayStation whenever he would come to hers. Meanwhile, Kala's dad, wanting to make friends with their new neighbors who obviously had a lot of money, came to visit the bats with his family. Meeting the young lady who was a Townsend's Big Eared bat named Sabrina and her Vampire Bat nephew Lucian. Lucian and Kala were both very unsure about this, but did become friends. They would hang out a lot, mostly with Kala coming over to Lucian's house, since it would be the only time she would get to have away from her scary father. Over time, they would get close, being each other's only real friends for a long time. Life at school didn't really change for them as their new friends were placed into different classes than them.
One Christmas, Noah's grandparents decided to spend a large chunk of money on a brand-new console called the Xbox, something he'd been really wanting, and he invited Alex over to play it with him. Meanwhile, as thanks for being such a good friend to her nephew, Sabrina got Kala an Xbox as a gift that very same Christmas. They just played their Xboxes like any of their other systems, until the next year. When their parents got them subscriptions to the new Xbox Live service. Noah's grandparents getting him the best quality headset they could, while Kala's parents got her the cheapest headset they could, good enough to where she could be heard and understood, but not good enough for someone to be able to recognize her voice if met in real life.
Years passed with the two playing on Xbox live but never encountering each other until one day when they were in fifth grade. Noah was online on Halo 2 under the screen name PiggiePie, looking for a match, when someone joined the group under the screen name BeachesNeedKelp. When they started voice chatting, he was surprised to hear that his opponent was a girl, but figured this would just make it an easy match, before the boy was promptly put in his place when she kicked his ass thoroughly. This led to the two becoming very competitive with each other to the point where they friended each other so they could keep it going later.
A few months later, the abuse from Kala's father got so bad that one night he came home drunk and really laid into his family bad, so bad that after he finally passed out, Kala's mom was so desperate for a way out that she decided on a... permanent escape. And just like that, Kala's life went from bad to worse. Her dad was now a single parent who took out his negative emotions on his daughter even worse than he had before, forcing her to toughen up in order to survive, leading to her being an even harsher bully at school to make herself feel better. And soon her only real friend, Lucian suddenly got a lot wealthier and his Aunt, wanting to get her nephew out of this bad neighborhood, moved the two of them to the richer part of town, leaving Kala's friend, and her only safe space outside of school, so much farther away. But she did have someone she could talk to about her troubles, that punk she loved pwning online, but she didn't feel like that would be a good idea, not right now.
Things went like this for a while, until halfway through her first year of middle school, where she got in a fight so bad, she had to transfer to a different school, and her dad really made her pay at home for causing such an embarrassment. Coincidentally, the middle school she was now transferring to was the same one Noah, Alex, and Lucian were going to. This being a more expensive school, Kala's dad had to pick up more hours at work to be able to afford it, giving her at least some hours each day where she'd be home without him. Most other kids wouldn't be able to handle being home alone, but she was a tough girl, knew the dos and don'ts, and loved the time to herself. Her first day at this new school was interesting, as she got to homeroom early in the morning, she saw her old friend Lucian teasing someone, raising their Gameboy up too high for them to reach. A little nerdy pig with thick, fluffy, dirty-blonde hair and thin-rimmed glasses. "Come on Noah, jump boy, jump for it. Heh, okay, I'll throw you a bone~ I'll let you have it if you squeal for us~" Lucian said to the poor piggy jumping for his Gameboy. The pig boy got all pissed off and tried to punch him, only for his punch to be stopped by another boy, a big lion who's clearly one of the strongest guys there. "He said squeal piggy boy, so SQUEAL!" the lion boy says before grabbing Noah's tail and pulling it, causing him to squeal like a feral pig. The lion lets go as a bunch of kids laugh at Noah, causing him to blush and sit back in his desk, hiding his face in embarrassment, Lucian giving him his Gameboy back. Kala smirked and thought this was hilarious, looks like she had a new dork to mess with.
She took a seat next to him as homeroom started, seeing him pocket his Gameboy before the teacher could notice it. She thought his voice sounded familiar, but couldn't think of from where yet. She was about to ask him some questions, when the Homeroom Teacher started addressing the class. "Everyone, we have a new student, she had to transfer here due to some...issues...at her last school. Everyone please welcome Kala Hansen." She then had to introduce herself to the class, and after she finished, she could hear Noah snort and say something insulting under his breath about how she probably got expelled. This got her real pissed off so when nobody was looking, she slapped a "spank me" sign on the pig boy's back. "That'll teach the punk to keep his mouth shut" she thought. And she was right, as when they left homeroom, she watched him walk down the hall, getting his butt slapped by every jock and preppy girl who passed him, causing him to blush and eep from the first one and just blush redder and redder with each spank. After getting enough amusement she decided to head to class. She didn't have any classes with Noah until 3rd Period, gym class. As she was heading to gym, Noah stopped her outside the door. "Hey, that was you that put that sign on my back wasn't it?" He asked aggressively. She just smirked and looked down at the short nerd. "And so what if it was? What are you gonna do about it dork? I'm up here and you're down there." she said smugly. He made a venomous glare as he so wanted to punch her, but knew that people were coming that would see him, so he just bottled it all up and walked past her to class.
After getting changed into their gym clothes and getting into class, she thought the dork looked pretty cute, but still decided to tease him throughout the period, making fun of how bad he was doing and how unathletic he was. Heck, when they were running laps around the gymnasium, she was ahead of most of the other students, and he was lagging behind most of the other students, and she would tease him for that afterward too. After the activities were finished and class was almost over, as the students were heading back to the locker rooms, Noah confronted Kala again. "Listen you, I want you to leave me alone. I don't have to put up with this crap." She just smiled and pulled him off to the side, out of view. "Oh yeah piggy? And what are you gonna do about it if I don't?" He looked nervous but then said "I-I'm gonna knock you out!" She snorted and smugly replied "Psh, really? You're gonna hit a girl huh? And even if you do, what's to stop me from tellin on you?" Noah knew what she could do if he did hit her. If she told on him, she could easily twist the story to make herself look totally innocent and get him in even worse trouble, after all, she was a girl and he was a boy, even if she was bigger and stronger than him. So, he just gritted his teeth and let her go, causing her to giggle and pet him softly on the head, saying "Good boy" before heading to the girls' locker room. Next was lunch, and Kala was looking for a place to sit, when she noticed Noah, she wanted to sit with him so she could mess with him some more, but she saw Alex sitting with him. She'd never met this girl before, but she learned from a few incidents at her last school that monkey girls aren't to be messed with, so she left them alone. She then noticed Lucian at a table in the back and at first wanted to sit with him, but then she noticed he had more than a few girls sitting with him and got kind of a bad feeling about this idea, so she ended up just sitting at a table by herself. She only had like one other class after Lunch with Noah, 6th period, but it was in a computer lab so she wouldn't be able to get away with anything here, other than occasionally walking over to his screen to tease him about whatever he was doing on it whenever the teacher was out of the room.
After school, when Kala got home, she hopped onto Xbox Live and decided she should unwind by playing some Halo with PiggiePie. This guy might be a competitive punk, but he was fun to play with. After she logged in and got into a lobby, he joined in, with an audible groan through his mic before he said in a very familiar voice "Hey Beaches, I had a rough day today, so take it easy on me okay?" It was only just now that everything clicked in her head. PiggiePie was that Noah Ricci dork, oh joy. She had been starting to like PiggiePie and was thinking of him as a friend, but now that she knows it's Noah, this just opens the door for a whole lot of teasing and torment. But for now, she thinks she'll play the long game, since her mic is too low-quality for him to be able to recognize her voice. She'll keep up the nice act just to troll him, only to later reveal her true identity and bully him online. His reaction will be so worth the effort. "Heh, you got it Piggie. I'll try not to spank ya too hard" she said with a smirk, knowing he wouldn't catch the hint. They then played intense battles in Halo until bedtime.
This day set the status quo for the next few years, and over time, Kala secretly enjoyed talking to Noah over Xbox Live, and was starting actually starting to like him, to her own surprise. "What the hell is wrong with me? Am I actually starting to like this nerd? Fuck." She was starting to wonder why she was still bullying Noah, but then she would remember why every time, as in school he would greet her with grumpy hostility and she couldn't help but take out all her anger and frustrations with her life out on him. She wanted to tell him who she really was online, but she didn't, because on one hand it might make him start treating her better in school and actually become her friend, but on the other hand, it might do the opposite, causing him to be hostile toward her in school AND online. She decided she would keep it a secret as long as she could.
On Noah's end, he was happy to have at least one good friend on Xbox Live, and as he started to go through puberty, he was starting to have feelings for this cute-sounding girl. Oh, how he would love to meet her in real life. During 8th grade, they really started to notice all their classmates "developing" thanks to puberty. Noah noticed his friend Alex really growing significant breasts, but she didn't seem happy about it. "What's wrong Lex?" He would ask, only for her to reply "These things, I don't like them, they're big, awkward, and they get me too much attention. I feel like they just don't suit me. Maybe I should just get rid of them." The pig would put his arm around his friend and comfort her "It's okay, whatever you wanna do is fine with me." She would smile and hug her friend, knowing he would be her friend no matter who she wanted to be. Alex would suddenly start showing up to school dressed a lot more boyish, and would be coming up with ways to keep her breasts unnoticeable. Noah thought it was unusual, but didn't really question it. Little did he know, this was the start of Alex's path down the road to discovering her true identity.
Kala was dealing with her own puberty, noticing how well she was developing. But she didn't wear a bra yet, as she thought those would be really uncomfortable, tight, and restrictive, and didn't see an issue with not wearing one. Noah, in all his hostility, hadn't really been paying attention to his bully's body, mostly just looking her in the face in their confrontations, so he never really noticed her development. Both of these problems were corrected one day, when Noah was confronting Kala. He had come up right behind her and called her out for her usual torment, and as she quick on a dime, turned to face him, her breasts were swaying from the speed of the turn and one of them slapped Noah in the face through her shirt. This caused a really awkward silence, with both of them blushing deep red from what just happened. Ending with Noah saying "Uh...I uh...um...I-I'll just be g-going now." with her replying "Y-yeah. G-get out of here dork." This settled it, she definitely had to start wearing a bra, this could never happen again. As Noah walked away, he started having dirty thoughts about his bully, having only now noticed her development, but quickly pushed them out of his head, focusing on the fact that she's his tormenter to help get them out. Kala asked herself a thousand questions about what just happened in her head and started getting some ideas about him. She'll have to think about this more later.
Over the next few months, Kala started to realize she actually had feelings for Noah, but knew she could never act on them in real life. That would cause so many problems. She wouldn't have to contemplate how she'd deal with her feelings for long, as one day, PiggiePie asked BeachesNeedKelp a very unusual question. "Hey Beaches...I-I got somethin to say." "Yeah? What is it Piggie?" It was quiet for a bit until he finally said "I-I really like you. Do you wanna be my Xbox Live girlfriend?" This took Kala by surprise; these words really came out of his mouth. This would be...just perfect, and as long as her dad didn't find out, she didn't really see the harm. "Sure punk, I'd love to" she said warmly.
