Koie: Okay, I'll admit that Dragon Ball Z is one of my guilty pleasures. It is one of the best action animes even by today's standard. That's not to say that it isn't without its flaws. Trying to rewatch it is hard at times because of all the filler episodes and drawn-out power measuring to pad the pacing. That being said, it's the heart of the show that I enjoyed the most -- finding the strength within yourself to over come insurmountable odds. It was most prevelent in the Frieza Saga. I believe that Goku once said, "Power comes in a response to a need, not a desire." To me, the best parts of the show were when the hero was broken and bleeding and against everything, he willed himself to stand and fight not for himself, but for those he cares about and the ideals he believes in. In coming future, things are going to get tougher and we must be prepared to do the same. When the odds are stacked against us, we have to find a way to dig deep and fight with greater vigor -- not for personal gain, but because we can't afford to lose. So, dig in and fight and remember, don't celebrate too early -- wait for the smoke to clear!
