--- Things were so simple back then. The worst worry being schoolwork or if you'd get the birthday present you wanted. All of it, long before the world became a lot smaller and hearts grew much colder.
Still, I can remember the good times. I'm very good at it.
I remember holding her hand, tugging her along. She wore a white dress that flowed in the wind. The high jumps she took with each step made it look like she was about to fly away. The sun was setting, the air cooling, and I was getting my energy back from the summer sun sapping it away, though I still needed to squint my eyes. I'd been waiting all summer to show it to her.
Now, as we rushed through the fields back to my home, I pointed to where we were going. I can still remember the smell of the grasses, the smell of that late day air.
I recall showing her my garden, how it lit up the night, and the reaction on her face.
