I agree. Some people are quite OK with that. And you never know with who, unless you find out. Depending on who it is, and how much you want to know, could be quite worth finding out, if you do. ^.^
I have been a big fan and follower of the ones called Chakats. I so love how they think and wish to live, mostly among each other. It helps them that One: They're not human, and not so bound to live by human rules, laws, taboos, and ways of living. Two: They're all of the same sex. They're all hermaphrodites. Mostly female and female looking with a fully working male sex added to them also. This means they don't have the same male vs female hangups and separation issues humans have.
They also don't have much in the ways of jealousy. In that it's not uncommon for one of them to have more than one spouse and/or lover in their life. So just because one of them is already seeing someone, doesn't mean they will limit themselves to just that one partner or life partner. One who is a father to one child, may in turn be a mother to another one, but to a different parent.
Humans find such a thing as complicated, but to them, it makes for a lager and stronger family group, and that to them is a very good thing to have.
This also makes it quite possible for someone to approach and try to build a strong and lasting relationship with one of their own who already has a partner, without it threatening in any way the relationship already in place. In fact, among them, it can strengthen the relationship already in place by adding something new to it, both of them can be a part of and share in.
They feel love should not be restricted. It should be shared expressively freely with as many as one wishes to. That includes who to have sex with also. For them this is the norm. And I for one approve of their ways.
It is complex, yet simple. And far less prone to creating hurt feeling in those who may feel left out, partly due to being too late in getting with someone they wanted to who already has someone. Such things is rarely ever a problem among them. I like that about them too. ^.^
Wish humans was more like that. Some are, but it is vary rare. And not looked upon as anything good by those who are not involved, as if they should have a say in the matter. We humans mostly frown on any who does such things, even if it can be greatly beneficial to those who do. It's sad. O.o

I've been studying languages, mainly sought after Japanese however Russian I have interested myself in, I also found a man who owns a technically domesticated red fox that goes by the name "Alice" which doesn't sound like the English spelling. "Alice" is more like? 'ah-lí-cha' or something. X3 I checked out this and felt a feeling I hadn't felt in years!
