Her hair is Harlowe gold Her lips sweet surprise Her hands are never cold She's got Bette Davis eyes She'll turn her music on you You won't have to think twice She's pure as New York snow She got Bette Davis eyes
And she'll tease you She'll unease you All the better just to please you She's precocious and she knows just What it takes to make a pro blush She got Greta Garbo stand off sighs She's got Bette Davis eyes
She'll let you take her home It whets her appetite She'll lay you on her throne She got Bette Davis eyes She'll take a tumble on you Roll you like you were dice Until you come out blue She's got Bette Davis eyes
She'll expose you, when she snows you Off your feet with the crumbs she throws you She's ferocious and she knows just What it takes to make a pro blush All the boys think she's a spy She's got Bette Davis eyes
And she'll tease you She'll unease you All the better just to please ya She's precocious, and she knows just What it takes to make a pro blush All the boys think she's a spy She's got Bette Davis eyes
She'll tease you She'll unease you Just to please ya She's got Bette Davis eyes She'll expose you, when she snows you She knows ya She's got Bette Davis eyes
Okay, so real talk, I'm honestly perturbed at how many people in my generation have never heard this song! Seriously, give it a listen and be mind blown by the smooth lyrics, easy beat, and pleasant voice of the lovely Kim Carnes. Here>>: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwO9wg64HyY
80's were another revolutionary time with the memorable songs, music videos, and culture that helped shape us into the individuals we are now. It was the partytime, no frills, good times decade. Unfortunately, I was born 2 years late and grew up in the 90's but this decade of music and colorfulness is what my mix tapes and later CD's consisted of.
Bette Davis herself was a Hollywood actress in the early decades of silver screen entertainment, but her stunning eyes, gaze and picturesque performances tugged at the hearts of multiple generations of people. By the time this tune came out in '81, Ms. Davis was 70 years old and was absolutely flattered how this one particular song put her name back into the limelight and introduced her performances to a whole new generation of young people at that time. Kind of like a unsung Marilyn Monroe, but Davis seems to be less known yet equally impactful in the way she carried herself with a no nonsense attitude and gave no shits what the haters and hypacrites tried to do to undermine her. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bette_Davis
There are many versions of this song, but this by far is the most popular and favored! Sorry for the long post, I just had to get that out! Culture up you fuzzbutts! XD
