Break Me Down (Prod. by Ganga Beats)

You're So Handsome With Your Shirt Off
This description has been copied from the same upload on FurAffinity

Yes, I thought I'd finally upload a song of mine. It's about friggin' time, considering these days, I'm more of a music artist than a traditional artist! Given some time, I'll probably upload more music later on. I'm also available on music retailers too. Just search up Jack Rootes on iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer or Tidal and you'll find me. :)

What's the story behind this song, you might ask (Probably no one asked really, but I'll still pretend someone did). Well, let me tell you.

So this beat I've had on my laptop for a long time. I wanted to use it for something, but was unsure about what exactly. I was going to use it for a track with the subject matter being toxic relationship, similar to how Love the Way You Lie tackled the subject. This was especially the case, since the beat itself reminds me a little of the song 'Good Guy' by Eminem & Jessie Reyez from his Kamikaze album.

But then, before I knew it, some.... let's just say, 'controversies' arose regarding some big names in the Gmod / SFM Splatoon community, involving a Discord server that contained NSFW artwork. Honestly, because I'm sick of hearing about it (the outrage had been going on since October 2019), I won't share details. If you really want to know what it's all about, then it's plastered all over DeviantArt, you'll find it if you look hard enough. Before I knew it, especially on the aforementioned website, there was MASSIVE amounts of backlash against those individuals for their actions.

I sat there, thinking about it and I thought the people who were vocal about it, whilst justified about it given the situation, were unintentionally giving off a very toxic image through their words. Seriously, one individual (who I will not mention the name of) flat out verbally attack the fans of the accused, using words like 'retards' and 'immature fuckheads' in regards to the accused's fans.

So using that, I wrote this rap as a form of expressing my thoughts on the controversy without actually mentioning it. However, I do believe that this can apply to ALL fandoms, regardless of what drama goes on in it, it's just that the Gmod / SFM Splatoon controversies were the most recent as of me writing the song. After all, I remember one (I assume) insane Undertale fan trying to murder a fanartist over the Frans shipping using a needle infested cookie. I remember the total ballistic animosity of the Sonic fandom, I remember the large amounts of immaturity from certain members of the FNAF fanbase, etc. So as I said, this song can apply to ANY fandom with a large following that can have controversies.

Also, I might make a music video using SFM for this song. If I do, I'll make sure to create a journal or a post showing it. I'm currently downloading SFM with plans to do so.

[Verse 1]

Here we go again with all these senseless arguments.
Constant fights between them, no sights of an armistice.
Used to think things would be so picture perfect,
But now I see the ugly side, and staying isn't worth it.
So much drama that people are now going through,
I'm sure a lot of people don't want to believe the truth.
See, it comes out of idols, leaves their image rumbled,
Start to expose the truth, watch communities crumble.

Before you know it, there's two kinds of people involved:
Ones that defend their idols when the world turns cold,
And the ones that hammer on with the proof given,
Losin' tempers when the first group refuse to listen.
Yeah, I don't see this beginning to cease,
It may take a few months to return the peace.
I can only see now the days will be darker,
So for now, I need to say a little sayonara.

If this is love,
Why does it break me down?
Why do you break me down?
If this is love,
Why does it break me down?
Why do you break me down?

[Verse 2]

Here we go again with more pointless drama.
I sit here, observin' riots, lookin' for some karma.
That bring an end to all the needless fighting,
That'll strike desetters down like some lightning.
A wasteland full of decaying things and dreams.
Angry mobs hunting for the heads of kings and queens.
Whole scale protests thinkin' they're impeccable,
Outsiders watching the chaos from broken pedestals.

But even when changes happen, so massive,
It's one more piece of drama 'till the fandom state collapses.
One huge controversy generates hysteria,
'Till it's less a fandom and more an online Syria.
If you would excuse the hyperbole,
'Cause the internet drama isn't just hurtin' me.
'Cause this is what I see from my mental library:
Whole communities torn apart by needless savagery!

[Verse 3]

Here we go again, harsh words being laid to waste,
I wonder would they say those things if they were face to face,
With that one person the words were aimed at,
Or would it be a different game that they would play at?
Blind rage busy infectin' fandoms so global,
'Till they end up more toxic than Chernobyl,
Opinions split down the middle, creating great divides,
Words with enough venom in 'em for genocide!

Now I know at times the hatred can be justified,
However, acting like a bully shouldn't be glorified.
'Cause if their own bones in their waldrobes got exposed,
They'd get the same backlash they encourage and impose.
But I know that it doesn't have to be this way,
Where hatred is the norm and love is getting misplaced.
'Cause whenever I hear the drama rumble like thunder,
There's always one question in my mind I wonder:
