I will forever be bothered at the fact that we can't make our own animal characters to play as in Animal Crossing.
I love how cute everything is, except for the player characters. I wish I could be any character, anything at all except for what I'm forced to play as. :(

Like, I can ignore that problem mostly, but it would absolutely enhance my enjoyment and keep me coming back far more than anything else they could add.
Even looking at it on a not-furry level, it sort of takes away some element of immersion into the world when you and other players are the only ones of your kind and don't even have the option to be something that fits in better with the animals around you. You're distinctly separate from the 'real' inhabitants of this world.

Yeah it very obviously separates you from the NPCs, even if the devs want that separation for whatever reasons, I don't see the reason for it... plus I can't see how adding more avatar options would kill them.
