On most days, Me and Max spend the afternoons after school hanging around downtown. Dad's usually working at the police department for most of the day and the school is in the middle of everything so it kind of just works out for us. Sadly it's not all urban exploration though, we spend a good chunk of our time at cafés and bookstores, cause Max insists that we should try to get homework done. We don't really get much done though since it almost always ends up with us watching funny videos on the internet. It's totally his fault. Once it starts to get dark, we pack things up and head for the nearest train station to catch the next mag-train towards home. It's not always a straight shot there, though; on some days Max asks me if we can take the "long way" back, cause he wants to see the city all lit up at night. I always love seeing it too so I usually say okay, but the funny thing is, my little bro always ends up falling asleep before we even get to the good view. He swears he doesn't, but I just get to tease him about it more whenever he says that. I can't blame Max for wanting to see it so much though. They say that Roukan is a city where light never leaves, and if you go out to either the bay or on the mountain-side train route, you get to see a view like this every night. I always figured that this is why they call our city, "The City of Luminescence". |
