You've never seen the depictions of kobolds in folklore have you? They're usually little rodent-like critters, sometimes have dog characteristics, tend to have nasty teeth.
The 'cutebolds' and 'dragon' kobolds trope kinda messes with me. Just make mini-dragonkin/lizardfolk D:<

Speaking of folklore, I recently purchased a copy of "Grimm's Fairytales". It's a collection of several dozen, if not hundred, ancient fairy/folk tales. I'm currently reading "Cinderella" and it's amazing. In the original tale, there's no Fairy Godmother, no magic mice, no pumpkin carriage, and no having to be home before midnight. I haven't finished the story yet but, I've been told that the stepsisters cut off part of their feet to try to fit them in the slipper.
