Twilla Fritz! In charge of diplomatic relations. I was watching TNG and saw this dress version of the uniform I really liked, and I've always thought it'd be really fun if the show had more... variation in their alien races. I don't actually know a ton about the universe, so any history/backstory/reasoning behind the species in that universe will go over my head, but knock yourself out!

As an aside, I'm still really catching up on life these past couple of months. I've got a backlogs of notes I still need to get to, and I'm not really sure when I'll get to them, but I'll get to them eventually. Just mentally treading water right now. I gotta get some projects off my plate before tackling every day life again. Sorry about it taking me so long.

With that thick fur, I'd say she's from a relatively cool or even cold planet, perhaps one that's only recently experienced an Ice Age.  With those ears, her world probably has relatively dangerous carnivores that are difficult to see on a good day; however, her canines tell me that her race is also carnivorous or omnivorous.  Finally, her vertical oval pupils tells me her race is used to living and/or working in the dark or semi-dark perhaps on a world that has a bright sun in the day or a world with a relatively dark sun or mostly overcast world (think a habitable Venus).  I know some of my observations seem to contradict each other but put Mars in Earth's orbit and you'll have an idea of what I'm talking about.

Sounds like a pretty good assessment =)!

Thanks.  Reading that helps me because, as a writer, it helps if I can figure out a character's ancestry merely by looking at the character.

She looks amazing

And in regards to what background there could be.  MviluUatusun probably made the best ideas.
And in regards to on-screen star trek, the only reason there hasn't been more non-humanoids in the show is purely a budgetary issue, there have been hints at more fantastical creatures that we never see, and even a race of warp-capable horses.

The three newer movies and Star Trek Discovery have had more interesting aliens though likely as budget and effects have caught up.

Budget and convenience are the major reason we don't see a lot of truly different life. Races that are significantly different have been hinted at.

In the startrek universe, the rationale why there are so many humanoid species is that an ancient race called 'ancient humanoids' seeded the galaxy with DNA to direct the evolution of new species 4.5 billion years ago. Startrek Online seems to point the finger at this race being the Preservers (A race that transplanted earth native americans to another planet to ensure they survived catastrophe).

Beyond that, Startrek has sentient amoeba-like entities, space-faring slugs that communicate via scent, sentient gas clouds, sentient silicon-based crystals. Just to name a few off the top of my head.

By the fact that starfleet officers wear their uniforms on all kinds of planets, for months at times, past when the clothes are in tatters-- that fabric must be the most breathable, comfortable, odor-eliminating material in the universe XD

It must be! I wonder if they have a hoodie version. I'd wear that.

I desire a species name and a set of acceptable color schemes.

Not quite sure about that yet! I'll have to draw some more of her species to get a feel for them ;)

Yeah I wish Star Trek media had more variety in their alien races too... would be really nice if they'd stop neglecting the Catians, for a start, need stuff like this in the movies/shows!
