This piece and the last are actually based on a Thich Nhat Hanh quote and also just the phrase "My other half", which implies that you may view your partner and yourself as having two bodies but at the same time also as a single entity.
The quote is: "One day I was hammering a nail and my right hand was not very accurate and instead of pounding on the nail it pounded on my finger. It put the hammer down and took care of the left hand in a very tender way, as if it were taking care of itself. It did not say, “Left Hand, you have to remember that I have taken good care of you and you have to pay me back in the future.” There was no such thinking. And my left hand did not say, “Right Hand, you have done me a lot of harm—give me that hammer, I want justice.” My two hands know that they are members of one body; they are in each other."
I'm not a doctor but I'm pretty sure licking a smashed finger won't do anything. If you happen to pound your finger (or your partner's) don't take medical advice from me and instead search it up or contact a professional.
Uh oh! It's not October anymore. I ended up doing a lot less than 31 pieces. But! I did do more than normal this month, and I did learn some stuff about how to work more consistently. Still, I don't think I'm ready to stop Inktober yet. I'm just so far from my goal, and I got really far off track. I was thoroughly seduced by the intention to make each piece as good as I could make it, even though the whole point of this "Half Ass Challenge" was to treat that as an obstacle. Maybe since October is over I won't do "Inktober" anymore, instead I'll continue the "Half Ass Challenge" instead.
