After a long time I'll be posting smething new here!
As in every Halloween I tend to do at least one oligatory illustration or proyect (sometimes here, sometimes in my NSFW account), this year I went crazy thinking that I would be able to built a whole scene to be played in UE4 and Oculus Rift (just to be able to walk around). Of course I couldn't make it on time so I'll be sharing as far as I got.
I might have been able to do it on time though if I had had the environmental design completely defined before hand. It's an aesthetic I've been trying to pull out for some time now, the Silven's structures and houses being modern buildings built in equilibrium with giant trees and, in Lovrat's case, giant pumkins. Still, I've learned a lot during this proyect, I've followed a production pipeline composed by Autodesk Maya, Zbrush, Marmoset (For texture baking), Substance Designer, Substance Painter and Unreal Engine 4.
Just to give a small background for the setting I choosed, Lovrat, that it's a location in Isa's world, I'll drop a little of lore.
A Silven town complete dressed with a Halloween thematic. The place is surrounded by a vast creepy graveyard while in the center much of the houses are built on giant pumpkins and twisted trees. The inhabitants tends to go around wearing masks or costumes during most of the day and there's a magical atmosphere everywhere.
This is a Silven town that has a strong relationship with the Eternals and with the neighbour country of Thedera. They built the cemetery around the town under the belief that the Spirits of their dead ones are going to protect them from outside evil, thus their graves works as a barrier. There's also the belief that some of the spirits may become vengeful or mad and could try to attack the people of the town. To avoid this, they go around dressed in costumes to trick this vengeful spirits. The place itself it's a Marsh were most of the things that grows are pumpkins and big twisted trees thus being Silvens who inhabits this place, they made their houses on'em. This town is built over the strongest source of black magic in the world, being this the reason evil spirits are attracted to this place so often, and it’s also the reason why the Eternals are so invested in the local community.
Lovrat it's one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, making half of their pbi solely on tourists and visitors (the other half it's agricultural mostly). Even if they have a strong relationship with the Eternals and with magic in general, they're still a modern Silven society with electricity, asphalt roads, vehicles and so on. They're one of the few places in Anthroriakos that has strong religious beliefs and whose people can use a little bit of magic besides their bioengineering skills. The center plaza of Lovrat it's surrounded by lots of commercial places, beautiful cafes and restaurants and touristic hotels. There’s also a big peatonal where people can take a walk while browsing nearby stores. Near it is also the Eternal's temple, a big spiraling structure that looks kinda out of place with the rest of the environment since it's completely done out of marble without using any kind of tree or giant fruit as shell unlike the rest of the buildings.
