#1: Bigfoot

And here we go! At our number one spot and winner of this year's Halloween Countdown it's-it's Bigfoot. It's fucking Bigfoot! How could it NOT be Bigfoot? He's the mac-daddy of all Crytpids he's THE urban legend... well for America at least, sure it's obvious and expected but sometimes you just have to go that route! I'm sure some of you out there may be a little upset that some of your favorite Cryptids didn't make this list but I'd like to take a moment to acknowledge just that. These unknown creatures and legends span all over the globe, there's almost no limit to just how many are said to exist. could have done another full month long countdown on this topic and still not even have scratched the surface of it, but that wasn't the point of this countdown. I didn't want to explain every unknown beastie out there, I simply wanted to list my personal favorites and ones that I grew up hearing about.

There are just so many out there that it's dizzying and a lot that frankly are almost identical, even Bigfoot has numerous counterparts; Sasquatch, Skunk Ape, Yeti, the Abominable Snowman, the list goes on. Urban legends are unique to every person and region, that's what makes them so compelling to me. I may not have gave a shout out to your favorite but if I got you thinking about them, then I feel my work is done. These stories live on through the ages and whether real or not, they're an important part of our world and they shouldn't die out. So whatever it is you grew up hearing about, be it Selkies or La Llorna or whatever, keep those legends living, this world needs to keep what mystery it has left.
