Prophet of Impending Doom
ALWAYS WATCHES x NO EYES
#5: Wendigo

With every October comes it's sad, inevitable end. Nothing lasts forever they say and as were near our conclusion I want to pay homage to the best of the best. The Crytpids that have escaped the realms of obscurity and reached into the mainstream. While the Mothman was a close contender, I feel today's entry beats it out if only because the stories of this creature gripped an entire nation of people in fear and in some ways it still does. Numerous stories and accounts have lead heavily to this being's probable realism and with the advent of the internet, the Wendigo has become less of a forgotten legend of cannibalism and more of a sensation, one that if I'm being honest, actually gives me chills and for that reason alone I could have put it into the Final Five. It's a big claim for me when something actually scares me so with that being said I determined from the get go that if I was going to draw at least ONE actual scary thing in this entire countdown, it was going to be the Wendigo... I then subsequently vowed to never draw it again, but that's a story for another day.

Honestly, with the sheer number of wendigo and skinwalker encounter stories and the kind of shit I hear outside sometimes, I'm 100% convinced they're real.

You and me both, in particular the fact that the visual description is almost always the same and that it's lasted so long; maybe not to the same level as the legends say, but I do honestly believe something like the Wendigo exists and that's further what scares the shit out of me about them
