Previously on BIT Squad; The writer gave up on the Smash Ultimate story and pivoted the plot to take place AFTER Ultimate's story. BIT Squad found the freed spirits swirling through space, and realized they had to help them get home... That mission is still in progress.
And so, Cupie was in Lost Woods. For real this time. "Don't worry, Mr. Skull Kid! I'll get you home! My sense of direction is... Umm... Well, won't the journey be fun!?" the mouse giggled as the masked imp followed along, head rotating now and then as though examining Cupie. "Yuck, so much positivity. What should I do to this guy..." the Skull Kid murmured. "Excuse me! But I'm not supposed to be here!" came the voice of Shulk, following behind with a nervous look, "And I don't need powers to see that this creature is plotting something..." he added. "Heloooo? Sorry, I think I took a wrong turn! Although, are any paths really wrong in this beautiful world?" Cupie shouted from a tunnel. Saria, a kokiri who'd been following them, cleared her throat loudly. "I know this forest very well. I can lead you." she pointed out. "Anything to get me back... I'm on a tight schedule, hehe..." the Skull Kid mused. Cupie poked his head out of the tunnel and giggled. "The big owl is home, apparently!" he smiled.
Dusk and Vixy had gone to the Lylat System to deliver the Starfox and Starwolf team members home. They were borrowing an arwing and a wolfen, as those vehicles had also been turned into spirits somehow. "Alright, where should I drop you, fox?" Dusk murmured grumpily. A voice behind squeaked nervously. "N-not in space! I'm not the fox you want!" Dusk glanced over his shoulder and squinted. "Ughh, my bad Tails. Hey, which Tails are you anyway? Oh boy..." he groaned. "HOW DO WE ALL EVEN FIT IN HERE!?" snorted Pigma, who Tails was kind of sitting on. "...Demigod magic." Dusk murmured. Vixy's voice could be heard over the communicator. "Do a barrel roll, hare-boy!" she teased. "...No." Dusk said, unamused. "Hey, that's my line!" Peppy said from Vixy's arwing, "Just drop us on Great Fox, okay?" he added. Vixy looked concerned. "Uhhh… Did we return the Great Fox's spirit to a vessel yet?" she asked awkwardly.
Blocky was looking more pixelated than usual as he wandered Pac-Maze. "Wait, if I'm here, who is monitoring our transports? Beep boop!" he realized. He was suddenly pulled into a portal before 2BIT took his place, also looking pixelated. "There, you got a cameo. But this plot isn't feeling as good for comedy as I thought..." 2BIT murmured, looking behind himself to see Inky the ghost. "Hey, where are the others? Did Blocky get them here?" he wondered. He decided to explore the maze and check. Turning a corner, he was surprised to bump into Bowser. "What the heck?!" he yelped. Turning away from the frightening Koopa, he found his path quickly blocked by M. Bison! "Blocky, you blockhead!!" he stammered. "Hey, you, kid! You don't look like you belong at Bad Anon!" Turning again, 2BIT saw Wreck-It Ralph peering from another corner. "What...? Ahhh… Wrong Pac-Man maze..." 2BIT groaned, looking for Inky. "This could be troubling if he runs into another Inky..." he murmured.
Zed and Stripes had gone to the halidom of Ylisse, and not just because it's the only Fire Emblem location name that our writer can remember. (I swear!) "Let's hurry and get out of here, I feel like I'm gonna be drafted as some knight's mount..." Zed murmured, looking around at the war-torn battlements they'd arrived at. "Well, fortunately, I'm on top of things, so I know we got our people to the right place! All Fire Emblem guys, right!" Stripes said, only a bit sleepily. They glanced back to see the Black Knight sizing up Garon, while Alm and Celica looked around with clearly lost expressions. Zed tugged at Stripes' arm. "Not a single one of them belong here, I think..." he mumbled, "There's like, a dozen Fire Emblem worlds." Stripes suddenly looked immensely tired. "I hereby deputize you to figure it out then, Zed... I've got err... paperwork to catch up on..." he mumbled, walking away. Zed sighed. "Have a good nap..." he mumbled.
Gator and Dogson were walking through Spiral Mountain, escorting Tooty the bear back home. "Do we really have to follow her home? Don't we have lots of people to take home..." Gator mumbled. Dogson shrugged. "2BIT says that we should make sure no one kidnaps her or anything. Also, I have no idea where this puzzle piece goes..." he said, holding a Jiggy. "I think it belongs to Illusi! Look at its big silly eyes..." Gator observed, poking its eye. "Ow! Please don't poke me like that, sir!" Mr. Jiggy...said. Dogson dropped the puzzle piece after that and ran ahead to where Tooty was skipping. "This place gives me the willies! Could you hurry home, please?" he asked. High above them, a certain witch was observing the action. "In this world you should not be! So scram already so I can nab Tooty!" Gruntilda said with an oddly omnipresent voice. Gator glanced around. "Rhyming!? The ultimate evil! I'm staying forever until I defeat you!" he shouted. "Blue of hair and suit of green... A stranger goof I have not seen! But this game's script you won't defy! It's time for you to say good-bye!" Grunty warned. Dogson cleared his throat. "Shouldn't you run, Tooty?" he asked. The bear shrugged. "Not if the game script says I shouldn't. I'm sure my brother will rescue me..." she said. Before Gator and Dogson could muddle the plot further, Blocky pulled them back to Byte Space. "Noooo!! I have been beaten by rhymes!!" Gator wailed.
Eventually, 2BIT had taken it upon himself to take Tails back to his own world. "Back to running through the Green Hill loop endlessly, huh..." came the voice of 8BIT, taunting them from nearby. "Huh?" Tails murmured. "Run along, Tails. You're home now..." 2BIT said before turning to 8BIT, "You mad that you didn't get an epic final showdown in this story?" he asked. 8BIT scratched his head. "Well... this chapter's run long already..." he mumbled, "...You haven't figured me out yet, have you?" the black fox asked. 2BIT glanced behind him, and saw Knuckles and Silver run by. 8BIT had...brought them back? The black fox turned with a sigh. "I'm you, dufus. I might be the darkness within you, but..." As his voice trailed off, 2BIT finished his thought, "...You're not actually evil." he realized. 8BIT started to walk away. "Let's not get all huggy now. See you around..." he said. 2BIT nodded, and watched his mobian friends run through the Green Hill loop for a bit. "...Where do I even go from here?" he asked himself.
Where indeed?
