Character Description
Physical form
-
Sam can transform between human form and takir/nemato form. With the human form you know what to expect but his other form is quite bizarre.

- Nemato:
First of all a "nemato" is a creature from my Albion universe that's based on nematoida, a parasitic worm. In Albion they can be as long as anaconda and can tangle themselves into the rough shape of other creatures, somewhat like stick figures.

In Sam's case he's the roundwork variety anisakis which is a parasite of fish, which often transfers disease into people when they eat raw fish meat. The roundworm type in Albion is coated in hairs which they can weave to create a shell similar to a furry cushion in consistency. Combined with the stickfigure making ability they can immitate the form of certain animals especially since they can bind them to make more sold shapes such as claws, horns, hooves, antlers, beaks, scales or feathers. In Sam's cast the form he chose was that of a Takir.

Sam can shift his narrow threadlike body around within the cushion shell to avoid penetrating attacks and in his case the woven fabric-like shell is so strong it can resist cuts unless they have a lot of force behind them and Sam isn't pushed away by it. Not to mention having a cushion-like shell around you obviously absorbs a lot of blunt force. He also has a skull built from the hair that can withstand huge amounts of force such as a ton of bricks falling on it.

- Takir:
The takir are an extra terrestrial race from my Albion universe based on the now extinct north American takin. The American takin has some traits of the Chinese variety but more closely resembles the north American mountain goat. Takin are descended from a transitional stage of evolution between goats and antelope and so share features from both families such as expert climbing ability and tough scratch-resistant skin.

In Albion the "soldier" and "civilian" varieties have the build of the animal but they can perform actions like a more anthropomorphic creature such as standing on their hind legs and using their hoof digits like fingers since they have unusual mobility in their shoulders and hips and flexible hooves.

These varieties are also often around human height though there's marked difference in height between sub-race. Due to his dwarvic traits it's unclear which of the two Sam is though he's obviously not the wild variety which are much larger in size and don't have anthropomorphic features.

- Pituitary Dwarfism:
Sam stands just under 3 feet tall which is short even for certain takir sub-races. This is because he has pituitary dwarfism which is different to regular dwarfism in the fact that the body is properly developed however never went through adolescence and so he resembles a child even at adult age.

This doesn't mean that Sam acts like child however so it's obvious from their behavior that they are an adult except at first glance. Their mannerisms, turns of phrase, expressions, flow of speech and interests reflect that of an adult. Even if he pretends to be a child he looks more like an adult pretending rather than being realistic.

World/Setting
Main canon
-
The real person obviously exists in the real world, the character lives in a very similar world to our own but anthropomorphic creatures live in hiding taking human form as a disguise where fictional abilities and powers may exist but have to be kept secret, however Sam can travel to other existences via portals including worlds where anthropomorphic creatures and/or magic powers are accepted as the norm.

Sam's hometown which is never named resides somewhere on Scotland's coastline and consists of a few key locations such as the police station, the small park area, the rolling hills, the occassionally visiting fairground, the cinema, the harbor, The Lounge, which is a nightclub Sam is joint owner with Phil, The HORS Hotel, which is a hotel Sam runs where multiple members of the Sam fandom work, the butchers Sam owns, local shops and markets, Sam's bean farm where his soylent comes from (see items), John's apartments, which is where Sam and numerous other characters in the Sam fandom live, and occassionally aboard the Antigone Maru, which is Sam's cruise ship where Chu works as a waitress.

Side canons
-
Sam has appeared in other settings often with slight changes to his character and/or his name. Those universes don't intersect with the main canon except for when the artist is interacting with their creation. Though baring similarities they should be treated as separate canons to the main vein.

Fan canons
-
Though fan canon universes often take place in universes just like the other canons they are not canon and events that happen in these will not affect events in the other canons even between fan canons unless they are a collaborative work by the authors.
Body
Takir/Nemato form
-
from purely appearance, he's a 3 foot tall pituitary dwarf digitigrade mountain-goat-morph with white fur and black hoof digits and horns. His insides are emerald green including his organs though only the inside of his mouth is visable normally. His iris are also the same color. This is not common for takir or nemato race and so far it's believed to be unique to him. See character description for more details on his physical form.

Human form
-
Though not a pituitary dwarf, his human form is rather short in stature and has a young adult appearance. Of mixed Asian race he has some elements of Chinese and Indian race such as brown skin, brown iris, short black hair, slightly slanted eyes, a slightly shorter nose, large bushy eyebrows and a mild curl to his hair.
Clothing
often a green woolen sweater and black harem pants.

outfit subject to change depending on situation however.
Accessories
Backpack
-
Sam has a green and black backpack he can use to carry items in, most often his laptop, polehammer, some soylent and an extra set of clothes for emergencies.

Contract
-
Sam tends to carry around what he calls an Expendable Contract (see submission description) in case he finds something he wants.

Laptop
-
Sam's trusty 90's laptop may be the size of a thick book but it's designed to be used underwater which is a bonus.

Polehammer
-
Sam has a green and black striped cast iron polehammer with a telescopic pole and cloven hoof hand shaped head. He can use this to extend the reach of his palm skills and switch his stats, reducing his endurance but increasing his applied strength.

Soylent
-
Sam often carries a custom brand of soylent made from the beans on his farm. It has the same nutritional make-up of a person and he can abuse that to unabsorb, undissolve, respawn or create people.

Abilities and Quirks
-
First of all he has some native defense skills and a high level of endurance from his race (see character description). Aside from that he has other racial quirks I'll get into in a moment as well as things unique to himself.

- Takir Quirks:
In Albion the Takir are a race that live in the highly dangerous wilds of Planet Albion and are the most deadly predator found within preying on even the most dangerous creatures found there and even people from civilization who might lose their way. Though not the strongest creature found there, their ability to work in groups makes them rather formidable in both their sentient and non-sentient varieties.

Their diet mostly consists of birds, snakes and rodents and having no natural predator they charge into conflict without fear swarming anyone and anything that enters their territory even if they are stronger than any one individual and chasing prey across the landscape sometimes into other territories within the wilds.

Sam has some of these traits despite not technically being a takir and it could be down to his nemato species evolving to coexist among them. He certainly does like the taste of snakes, birds and rodents and has no quarms eating sentient creatures if not for being a social faux pas. He also never shows any signs of fear and instead has a strong temper he can abuse to his benefit.

Unlike takir Sam is fairly slow-paced most of the time and relies on his takir-like advanced social skills to manipulate others to his liking. His acrobatic and climbing skills however are due to the way he was raised though genetics may have played a factor in it. Like takir, he also doesn't like carnivora (canines, felines, bears, weasels, etc) on impulse. It's an aspect of him that loses him some favor in human society.

Takir like most mammals have directional hearing which means their hearing is amazingly accute but can only focus on one area at a time. Sam needs this if he wears Harry's goggles because he's otherwise unaware of his surroundings.

- Anisakis(Nemato) Quirks:
aside from the defensive skills mentioned in his character description, Sam also has a couple of traits handed down such as seeing worms, insects and fish as beautiful creatures which he respects as forms of life and longs to pretect. He also can breathe in water, manipulate a creature's digestion, which he can choose to be immune to, and has a strong hunger for salt and protein in particular.

One unfortunate side effect of being mostly a cushion is high light weight and despite being strong for his size he's easily launched or blown away, which is especially likely since his hooves are made entirely of horn and have no leathery pads to grip to the ground. Being 90% hair also makes him very vulnerable to fire which gives him a natural fear of it he's still working to overcome. However he's learned the magic skill of how to draw water to himself to act as an extinguisher and temporary shield against fire.

Sam is slightly wall-eyed at an unnoticeable level. It does however affect his ability to aim accurately at things in the distance or read things far away. Using Harry's goggles counteracts this but narrows his vision making him unaware of things behind or to the sides of him, at least via vision.

Feed Powers
-
In my Albion universe certain characters have a magical power known as feeds. This is the ability to extend the nerves of the soul outside the body for various purposes. In Sam's case they can root themselves into surfaces to provide grip or into other people to manipulate their sensation of pain or body functions including motor functions, digestion and circulatory systems.

Sam's ability in this is fairly weak apart from being able to control pain and stitch things together, the latter of which he is amazingly proficient at and can best any surgeon. The fact Sam rarely uses these powers is probably not because he can't but because he lets people believe he can't just to keep the skill in reserve if need be.

- Saf Control:
A saf is the innermost part of a person's soul and holds their personality and memories. If Sam is touching a person with his body or if he extends his feeds (see feed powers) and they root to a person, he has the ability to perform what's called "saf control". This is the ability to manipulate a person's mind, personality or memories.

This ability is so rare even within my Albion universe that there is only 1 other person known to have it and they are famous simply for having this ability.

Despite the fact it can work via touch it is by considerably far more potent if Sam enters another creature's body via absorption, turning what would be normally considered an assured success on the absorber's part into a catistrophic failure. It can even work if Sam is dissolved beforehand in this case.

- Expendable Contract, Role Quirk and Crux Power:
The "expendable contract" puts the signer in debt to Sam and the signer must partake in a business owned by Sam whether it be hotel staff at the HORS hotel, The Lounge, The Antigone Maru, Sam's bean farm or his butcher's shop (see world/setting for more details). However it can also mean they must work to do certain tasks for Sam on his request.

Such a slaving contract you'd think would be avoided like the plague but Sam doesn't tempt individuals with anything more than simply "something different" to what they already have. However in the case of suicidal individuals this might be taking advantage of their situation as they'll accept any life different to their own. Something Sam often exploits.

However, for many people the life Sam provides is actually better than their situation and they praise Sam for it, becoming loyal servants of his. Others however might be manipulated into signing the contract without thinking the consequences through, though Sam does make an attempt to make sure they understand the terms. There is however an alterior motive to this contract (see below).

The expendable contract stands as a process to legitimize Sam's actions. It's not legally binding but so many people follow it that they also become the enforcers of its terms should someone try to breach the contract making it very difficult to escape once signed.

- Role Quirk:
Sam is not any one individual but a role played by many actors. Those who adopt Sam's "crux" (see below) often by signing Sam's "expendable contract" (see above) are in line to adopt the Sam role when the previous actor retires.

Those closest in line to becoming Sam, still a rather numerous group, are kept up to date with his activities during the day by living through them when they dream at night. On becoming Sam they transform into his form and play the role of his personality though only by immitation. It also teleports them to a location of their choosing, which Sam can use to get out of a pinch if need be by killing himself.

There are some who long to become Sam and ask to be pushed to the front of the queue so they can do so, whereas others prefer to be set back in the queue. There are so many in the queue to date that those who don't want to be Sam can rest easy in the fact they'll never have to unless something seriously bad happens. As such those who often become Sam relish in being so.

Of course however Sam himself runs a higher risk than most of being erased from existence, especially as he doesn't have a conventional respawn quirk to rely on in this respect meaning death for any one actor is permanent unlike how it normally works for people in my Albion universe. It's the reason for the name "expendable contract" as those who sign it become expendable.

Actors however aren't always killed to retire. They can instead choose to back out of the role once in it if it jars with them if they were the kind to push themselves to the front of the queue and there are plenty of other people waiting.

In this case the willingness to put yourself at risk for the sake of Sam and abandon your identity goes rewarded by giving you the chance to escape the expendable contract (see above) or crux power (see below) however this is only if Sam himself alters it prior to taking the role and Sam is wise to those willing to abuse this mechanic as a get-out clause and very good at telling the difference.

- Crux Power:
The word crux means a mark and acts somewhat as a locator for the device's abilities. It's a cross-shaped mark added to a person's saf, the innermost part of their soul responsible for personality and memories. Anyone Sam touches with his digits, hair or via his feed powers (see above) he can implant a crux onto.

The crux itself simply adds the individual to a queue of people waiting to be the next Sam (see Role Quirk) though the queue is so long that those that have signed the expendable contract (see above) come first and those that didn't are simply left in reserve should the worst happen.

If the contract acts as a binding agreement and a piece of paperwork many follow, the crux itself is the method through which the magic spells operate.

A crux is impossible to remove without saf control (see above) as it's woven into your saf, the innermost part of your soul, where your personality and memories are stored.

- Mind Palace:
Those with a crux (see above) can have their sense of self trapped inside a concrete throne room of Sam's creation in their mind which he dubs his "mind palace". There he can reason with or fight the individual to get what he wants.

This room appears to be a replica of his chemeleon (see back story) ex-girlfriend's abode, though the main floor appears to be a pool of black water where the individual may enter or leave.

Entering the black water however will make the individual feel like they're drowning however and by instinct they they will swim to the top back into Sam's mind palace rather than attempting to drown by swimming down to freedom. The sensation of drowning they feel is actually drawn from their sense of self transitioning which feels similar to dying.

Although they had to go through that to get there they are often brought in by Sam forcefully during a moment of mental weakness. Now inside they have to fight their will to live to get out or rely on Sam to push them out. It takes a lot of mental strength to resist Sam's influence and their own instincts when every part of them tells them to do what Sam wants.

- The Causeway:
The causeway is a state of limbo souls enter after death similar to pergatory that appears as an endless mansion with many winding corridors and adjoining rooms that's easy to get lost in, especially as the can shift and move on their own.

In charge of this place is Pow Qwester, real name: Eric Prydes, a friend of Sam's who also goes by the nickname "the grimm reaper" due to his line of work. It's his job to show people the correct path to get to where they need to go.

However, Sam can take liberties with this friendship or use his knowledge of the area to his advantage to deal with people who've recently died.

Aside from this there is also a presence called Violet who can take control of the rooms and the objects in them to catch or attack people if need be.

Her presence turns the usually red decor of a room to a shade of blue or purple so you can always tell where she is.

Violet herself is infatuated with Sam, which  can be a hindrence if she decides to grab and snuggle him while he's trying to do something.

Violet is actually the one responsible for collecting the souls of the dead and depositing them in the causeway itself.

She works in partnership with Pow but can be manipulated to help Sam with the promise of spending time with her willingly.

Violet likes spending time with Sam and may hold him against his will if desperate but she much prefers it when he enjoys their time together.
