EDIT: Yes, yes, the stupid tiger-cat is 'too high' ...I misaligned him at the bottom; didn't notice until it was too late. I'm upset about this; don't rub it in.
EDIT 2: Fixed. Wasn't willing to redraw this outright.
...Anyway.
Not gonna do a play-by-play 'review' as I usually do, mostly consequent to this being of a movie ....and I don't do full reviews of movies anymore, with some possible exceptions.
'Hey There, it's Yogi Bear' (HTiYB) isn't among said exceptions, so I'll just gloss over this (I intended to review this years ago, but never got to it---just crossing it off my list here).
For the sake of brevity, this review presumes the reader has already seen this movie.
HTiYB is a bad movie. As is the norm for Hanna-Barbera, the writing here is awkward and the humor is very hit-or-miss.
To begin, this movie's title is a bit misleading, as I would say the story is more about Cindy than Yogi ...which considering how many films and specials Yogi's had over the years, isn't a bad thing. :3
What is bad is this movie 'wants' to be a musical comedy, and the songs 'want' to be good ...But the comedy is flat, the songs are too far apart and don't contribute much to the characters or story
...with the exception of Cindy's 'Like I Like You' ...which, though harmless, is a bit awkward (depending where the listener's mind goes), with lyrics such as "Let's do what lovers do". ^^
...not that 'Like I Like You' is Cindy's worst (or best, depending)---that award goes to 'A Sprig of Mistletoe' (Yogi's First Christmas) Sweating a little...
...another note about the songs is, for those who like James Darren (from the 'Gidget' movies), Darren performs a song here ('Ven-e, Ven-o, Ven-a').
Yogi himself is uncharacteristically mean-spirited, at least towards the end of the first act. The darkness is forced on Yogi by the plot (so I won't hold it forever against him).
Basically, Ranger Smith arranges to ship Yogi off to a zoo in California. However, Yogi succeeds in tricking another bear into swapping places with him. Hence, Yogi is able to continue stealing picnic baskets under an alias: The Brown Phantom. Only trouble is Yogi neglects to share this with friends Cindy and Boo-boo (whom we know wouldn't betray him)---leaving them instead to grieve Yogi's absence (for a solid week, no less). :P (Lick)
The above comes back to bite Yogi, as Cindy impersonates the Brown Phantom in order to get herself shipped to Yogi's zoo. Alas, Ranger smith sends Cindy to a different zoo, in Missouri ...which is an unnecessary complication, as Yogi isn't at the California zoo, either, but I digress.
Yogi and Boo-Boo eventually reunite, which leads to an adventure to reclaim Cindy.
The plot is viable---good, even. ...Yet, it could have been presented/written much better than what we got. Moreover, the writing is lazy---we have no fewer than three distinct characters here named 'Charley', for example.
The animation, though superior to HB's offerings made for television at the time, is somewhat lackluster (compared to, say, 'Charlotte's Web', etc), and uncreative (such as recycling old character models into new ones, with only the barest of effort to cover it up (cf. 'Mumbly' with 'Mugger' ...or for that matter, 'Fred Flintstone' with 'Yogi Bear' XD). :P (Lick)
That's the extent of my two cents (boy, pennies don't really buy much these days, do they? lol). ^_^
All right, so why did I draw cats for a review of Yogi Bear?
Because I can, firstly, and because these cats appear in the movie, specifically during the 'Ashcan Parade' song ...which, IMHO, has the best visual accompaniments of any of the other songs here.

...as well, the cats may or may not have been on my draw list, along with a review of this movie. A two-for-one win for Marten!
