The humble Automaid: unsung hero of the Fusion Era.
Population ebbs and flows have been a tenacious facet of Post-Splice history. While their predecessors threw gobs of human labor at every problem and worried about the exploitative implications later (if at all), post-splicers have had to be more creative. One of the more innocuous yet important developments to this effect is the Automaid.
Benefitting from simple learning algorithms and containment fields, this automated appliance can vacuum, mop, shampoo, scrub, dust and dry just about anything one would commonly find in a house or place of business, freeing citizens from the hours of labor necessary to keep their domiciles and workplaces habitable.
Automaids are a big notable exception to the post-splice reticence toward artificial intelligence; the benefit of having them quite simply outweighs any negative feelings toward a machine that can learn even simple things. They rarely speak, choose to work when the least number of people are around, and were designed so as to minimize resemblance to a person.
But they can, I'm told, hold plenty of malice if you're creative.
